Description
Commission InformationI'm having a hard time convincing myself to put detail into the leaves. Β D:
I used a reference image , though its not entirely the same but I wanted something to look at to get an idea of what I should be doing.

I really enjoy this pixel and I can really relate to the artist's struggles of drawing trees and such, because I can understand how difficult they are. After looking at the reference the artist used, I had to give a high score with vision because what they were going for was a good idea and had purpose.
However, because that purpose was practicing pixeling a tree, there wasn't much originality, concept, composition, etc. This is why I had to give a lower score on originality. Overall, I think the execution was very nice and after looking at the reference, the artist did really well. Even though the colors were changed, that was a minor detail that didn't really harm the product. In fact, I think it helped give it a better look than ending up with just a bright, vibrant green that is seen everywhere in tree illustrations. The more cool, bluish green made it a bit more unique.
The two biggest improvements that could have been made were including highlights on the tops of the tree to give it just a bit more value, and also to show off the branches through the leaves a bit more. I think how the artist added more foliage than what was on the reference kind of took away a little. But this is something that can be debated and could be considered a matter of opinion. In the end, I really like this small little pixel endeavor and I think it turned out nicely. The artist should be proud and I'm sure this was good practice. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

I admit it was a combination of intimidation and laziness that was preventing me from allowing more of the tree to show through the foliage. Β I think I'll give it a try soon and see how it goes! Β
I also want to say, thank you very much for the critique! Β Your comments were very helpful! Β
