Description The arrangement had been simple and straight forward, in the beginning. In return for transport to the British colony where she was to teach school, Miss Caitlin Manning agreed to work for her passage in the galley. On any other ship, she might have been forced to endure other more lascivious tasks but Lady Rum allowed no such behavior from her crew. Her cooking was pleasant enough, if a little bland compared to the previous cook but that all came to a crashing halt one day when Miss Manning came across the mishmash of machinery that the crew had been using for a still.

She turned it into a steam engine. And put up curtains. And practically moved into the engine room.

The crew never knew what hit them.

I don't know how I missed this when you originally posted this, but I love it. I think what tickles me most is the curtains on the portholes. lol

Beautiful work! Its perspective is great and perfect. And all those details made me return to see it many times (even now that I'm writing this comment I had already stopped 2 time to go looking at it again and again): I know nothing about mechanic and I don't not what that thing is, but I bet it works!

I'd like to know from where did you find ispiration: I want to go there too!
And now I also want a frilly charcoal basket for Christmas...

That is an impressive amount of detail. O_o

I can't even guess at how long it took you to draw all of that. And that is a really amazing piece.

Thats funny, and I mean REALLY funny, this setup reminds me almost exactly of the steam engine & powerplant of a boat named "Wicwas", a launch built by David Thorpe that I have engineered on. [link]

have you been aboard?

I think it might be the same one. I used a pic I found on Google that was posted on someone's travel blog as a reference. I had to guess at some of the features because the photo had cut them off.
