Before they could speak, she continued, "Guys, that means if you want to date me, get in line behind him.""As it should be," Kirin said under his breath.
Ariana looked back over her shoulder at him with her eyes narrowed. "Mind your manners, bub. You can get demoted at any second."
"Yes, dear."

Well, these young "warriors" have no right to complain. They had several chances to court Ari before she meets the Tengu, but they let their male honor overcome the feelings of their heart. And their "honor" doesnΒ΄t allow them to date a first class female warrior like Ari. This would be a deadly sin for them and the punishment for such dishonour is to take a sword and do harakiri.
And KirinΒ΄s facial expression makes me think that heΒ΄s saying: "face the facts boys. Ariana needs a real male that can really fight and not a boy who thinks that he can impress her only because he can swing a shinai "
And there is nothing better than a picture of Kirin to make my day. I wish i could draw him nicely.

heh... the funny part is that this is actually two pics assembled in Photoshop. My son put a drink down on Ariana's pic and spilled soda on it right where I was going to draw Kirin.

I always like reading your little story excerpts in these, they're so funny. I particularly like the ones about Kirin and Ariana. When are the next chapters of "When Graeme Met Lucy" or "Koiji" coming out?
