In my own opinion, "Derp" doesn't mean anything offensive at all. Everyone derps- because everyone maskes mistakes and has their off days. I've never thought less of Derpy as a pony; the fact that she was asked to help with Town Hall in the episode was showing that she did participate in events and tried to help when she could.
She's a silly pony with a heart of gold who makes you smile like bubbles do.

cording to what i know ditzy and derpy have been declared (by hasbro) 2 completely different chars. If ditzy ever shows in the show her disghn will be altered slightly to differentiate from derpy.

I tought it was funny when the guys who made the show finally decided to give Derpy a voice and the bonies got all butthurt because "The voice sounds like she has mental retardation!"
She's named DERPY for some reason. Plus, why do they get offended because of a fictional characther to be dumb/different? I'm pretty sure most of them would point and laugh if a person with mental retardation would walk past them.

I don't see Derpy as an insult chracter, all the contraire, I love how they include a character like her into the cast and how everyone just loves the character, is like, insted of makiing someone with a mental disability apart, they include her, I would even say it is good for childrens to assept other kids with mental disabilities, just saying.

ya, people need to stop assuming stuff because, while i might not have asperger's, i do have dyslexia which effects every day life and i proudly wear derpy across my chest everyday. figuratively, not literally, but it would be cool to have a derpy shirt.

Agreed. I think people need to chill out. I don't use the Derpy name and prefer to use Ditzy but seriously is that much better/worse. It's a cartoon people, get over it.
