Description
I weave chain mail and started making some little pieces because of how challenging some of the weaves looked and because you can finish them more quickly than a shirt. All these pieces start as straight wire, I make all my own rings from wire. This piece was done by making three bracelets of a half persian weave and then suturing them together with miniature links on the underside. A coworker liked it so much she asked me to make her a choker like it. I like the result but I need to contact her to get a photo of her wearing it.

The basic tools are a mandril that you use to make the links, wire snips, and two pair of pliers. This bracelet took a long time, almost an entire night's weaving but the choker that I made my pal Sarah took much longer. I wanted a more attractive clasp system. I learned from looking at patterns on the internet for the basic style of weave, after that, I designe the jewelry from scratch.

Very nice choker. How many basic tools do you need to do your work? How long did it take you to make this choker? Did somebody teach you this or are you self-taught? Oh, so many questions. Adios Amigo Shawn.

this is neat! i play around with chainmail sometimes and i admire anyone who can do it well. I have started to use stainless steel but i'm having a rough time closing my loops (lack the hand strength) plus, it's heavy as hell aluminun is a good idea!
nice job on all your pieces! i'm envious... hehe.

Yeah, stainless is really hard to work with. You can find rings online in different colors and styles. For jewelry stuff I like the aluminum but you can fins sterling if you wanna lay out the scratch for it.

It's aluminun so it doesn't really. The choker was about a quarter of a pound.
