What is the anime about? I've only heard some pieces, it sounds interesting though I'm not sure if I should start it because I'm watching a different anime at the moment.

Giant "Titans" appear suddenly 100 years prior and wipe humanity out to near extinction. To save themselves, they erect a series of 50m walls around their cities and are able to enjoy a century of peace. Then one day, a new strain of Titans appear that are able to destroy the walls, leaving humanity vulnerable once again.Β
It focuses around a boy who witnessed the destruction of the wall and vows to wipe them all out, joining the military, etc. etc. Freakking fantastic though, my description does it no justice.
