I was kind of mad that they made Sakura end up as an average housewife. This is MUCH better.

Well in all fairness, we only see like a page of Sakura and I guess they wanted to explore her relationship with Sarada instead.
Also it's pretty common if not completely expected of women to give up their jobs to raise their families in Japan. We can only thank Kishimoto growing up with American influence that she keeps her job here.
