Description
Christmas Day 1999, the greatest gift I've ever received for Christmas was delivered to my doorstep by neighbours Harris and Jennifer with their grandpa. I'll always remember the joy they've given us and how much we appreciate their generosity. Before Binky and Suzi came into our family, we had an amazing budgie named Woody. Honestly, he's not the prettiest budgie you've ever seen, but he was the smartest I've known yet. He had lived with us for a couple of months before we got the two kittens. When Binky and Woody met, they instantly became best friends (Woody was very close to me already) and spent all Christmas evening together.
Woody learnt to speak very quickly and had the largest vocabulary of all the budgies we've had. He could say: hello, Mummy, Woody, Monica, beautiful, give Mummy kiss kiss, thank you and hahahahaha!
But cutest of all, he'd say "Where's Binky?" everytime that she was out of sight.
Since experiencing this close friendship at such a young age, Binky has been friends with each of the budgies we've had after Woody's unfortunate loss. Woody loved being on people shoulders (even when we walked around in the backyard) and while I was at school, he accompanied Mum. Sadly, an accident outside caused him to fly away in fright and he never came back.
On a happier note, these photos show their first day together. Almost the same size, Binky enjoyed chasing Woody's tail while he had some fun running around between her legs and around the whole room. Okay, don't laugh, but I made our Christmas tree that year (2nd picture) which Binky easily knocked over and checked the inside for any goodies. Although it may look like or seem highly likely, they never hurt eachother and were as close as a brother and sister.
This has to be my largest deviation comment, so if you did, thank you for reading!

Thank you so much.
I guess that my little girl became friends with little birds because she's deaf and has very slow reflexes.
She's always calm, rarely curious compared to most cats and she likes to get personal with individuals.

That blue budgie with the white head is Woody?
That color pattern is called opaline.
(You may find it interesting that Victor, the budgie with the largest vocabulary on record, some 1728 words, was also a blue opaline. )

Yup, that's my old pal Woody.
Thanks for letting me know, that is interesting.
So opaline budgies are smart little ones.

Yeah, I named him sky because he had sky blue feathers, and I got the name from the movie "superstar", Sky Corrigan!!

Hey that's quite an original name for a bird, Sky. Well, I've never heard of any other Sky's.

That's so precious! Of course I read your whole comment, you're a good writer!
My Isaac came to us one night out of the blue, I guess he'd been abandoned and he walked into our house and promptly made himself at home.
Unfortunately, my bf and I are both allergic to him but we're too in love with him to ever let him go. We wanted to get another kitten or some other animal but I fear we waited too long.
I took in a stray cat one day and there was a war between them! Isaac wanted to play, I think, but the other cat wanted him dead. I also tried to integrate him with my mom's three dogs and that was a bust. Then I took in a rat for a few days and Isaac just wanted to eat her!
I think you have to get animals together when they are wee babies so they don't try to hurt each other.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment on my part but your story made me want to share one of my own.

That was not a very long comment at all. I've seen much longer before (and I've written worse before ).
Thank you for sharing your story of Isaac with me, does he still live with you?
I agree that most baby animals will become friends while growing up together, but from watching the different relationships of Binky and Suzi with Woody, I think that Binky's hearing impairment sort of helped their friendship. Binky doesn't have the usual cat instincts to kill birds and rats like Suzi has. When a budgie pecks her cheek, she runs away.

Thank you for your condolences, I remember how distressed I was, but I was eleven then so now I do think of the great times we spent together. I've honestly never felt so close to a bird before.
Thanks for the comment and the fave too!

They are very beautiful, aren't they?
Umm... I don't know if I mentioned this to you before, (I've said it a few times in deviation comments when people said things like "she looks like my cat!" and I ask if their cat is deaf too.) but did you know that 80% of white cats with blue eyes are deaf?
