Christmas Day 1999, the greatest gift I've ever received for Christmas was delivered to my doorstep by neighbours Harris and Jennifer with their grandpa. I'll always remember the joy they've given us and how much we appreciate their generosity.

Before Binky and Suzi came into our family, we had an amazing budgie named Woody. Honestly, he's not the prettiest budgie you've ever seen, but he was the smartest I've known yet. He had lived with us for a couple of months before we got the two kittens. When Binky and Woody met, they instantly became best friends (Woody was very close to me already) and spent all Christmas evening together.

Woody learnt to speak very quickly and had the largest vocabulary of all the budgies we've had. He could say: hello, Mummy, Woody, Monica, beautiful, give Mummy kiss kiss, thank you and hahahahaha!
But cutest of all, he'd say "Where's Binky?" everytime that she was out of sight.

Since experiencing this close friendship at such a young age, Binky has been friends with each of the budgies we've had after Woody's unfortunate loss. Woody loved being on people shoulders (even when we walked around in the backyard) and while I was at school, he accompanied Mum. Sadly, an accident outside caused him to fly away in fright and he never came back.

On a happier note, these photos show their first day together. Almost the same size, Binky enjoyed chasing Woody's tail while he had some fun running around between her legs and around the whole room. Okay, don't laugh, but I made our Christmas tree that year (2nd picture) which Binky easily knocked over and checked the inside for any goodies. Although it may look like or seem highly likely, they never hurt eachother and were as close as a brother and sister.
