Ah yes, been a while since I posted a screencap from a show and talked about it! Yes, this is from Sailor Moon AKA the show where I prefer the actual bad dub to the much better and improved new dub. Sorry Viz, you tried, but nothing beats the "so bad it's good" quality of those god-awful DiC and Cloverway dubs. If I'm going to watch my magical girl show, I prefer the dialogue to be 100% crap. XD Anyway, this comes from Sailor Moon Super S, the second-to-last story arc of both the manga and anime. This is the 31st episode of Super S, btw. PallaPalla (an evil blue chick) uses a magical orb to switch Sailor Moon and Sailor Mini Moon's ages.

Stephanie Beard (the voice of Mini-Moon) is really giving her all in this episode. Not only does she do a good a young Mini-Moon voice, but her teenager voice for the character is good too. As usual though, Sailor Moon's voice actress is pretty bad in this dub and her attempts to do a little kid voice are less than impressive. Also, I like how Mini-Moon's teenaged form resembles her evil adult form (AKA Black Lady) from Sailor Moon R (the second season).

Honestly, I'm not big on age swap, unless it's something radical. You know, like a 20 year old swapping ages/bodies with a 50 year. But these two barely have a ten year age difference between them, so it's not really that interesting. And yes, I know Mini-Moon is actually 900 (because anime is weird that way) but it still doesn't stop the swap from being kinda bland with your obligatory "Learn a generic lesson" type story beat. If Stephanie Beard (AKA Sugar) wasn't voicing Rini in this, then I probably wouldn't care.

Regardless, this episode does give some character development for Mini-Moon and I dig that. And before anyone asks, yes this was in the manga. This is not filler, this is canon. I actually had to look a lot of this info up because I haven't watched Sailor Moon in a gajillion years, and I've seen the third and fourth seasons the least. I probably haven't even watched them all and I know for sure I haven't watched season 5. People tell me that final season is great with TG in it and there's a bunch of new Sailor Scouts and yadda yadda. So maybe I'll check it out if I binge the whole series at some point.
