Description Yes, this actually happened! Believe it or not, I have not seen a lot of 80s Transformers. I've seen smatterings of episodes here or there and OF COURSE I've seen that amazing animated film! However, my experiences with this classic cartoon are sadly lacking. I grew up mostly on Beast Wars, Beast Machines, the original Robots In Disguise, Energon, and Armada. I wouldn't start watching full episodes of the 80s show until I was well into adulthood and by then it couldn't really hold my interest well. However, this one episode did! Let's talk about this weird season 3 episode of 80s Transformers called "Only Human".

This episode revolves around a mob boss trying to destroy the Autobots. Of course, he doesn't have the technical know-how to pull it off. So, he takes the logical course of action: HE GETS HELP FROM COBRA COMMANDER! Yes, season 3 of Transformers actually shared a universe with Cobra Commander! This was pretty interesting, though not too surprising. They are owned by the same company and would go on to crossover A LOT, though mostly in comics and the occasional video-game.

So, Cobra Commander (Called "Old Snake" in this cartoon) creates a device that pulls out the Autobots minds and transforms them into humans. This leaves their robot bodies mindless and able to be controlled by the bad guys. Meanwhile, the Autobots are forced to run around in human bodies and try to get their original ones back. Thankfully, their new bodies are pretty damn strong for humans. They even get outfits THAT LOOKED LIKE THEIR ROBOT BODIES! I mean, they literally burst into a building and instantly find matching outfits for their old bodies! Gotta love that cartoon convenience.

Anywho, the bad guys decide to do bad things with the Autobots former bodies. To be fair, who wouldn't do bad things with Arcee's body? >:3 I'm going to hell for that joke! Yeah, this episode's alright. It's not really a "body-swap" episode per se, but I like the idea of them being forced out of their bodies as humans. Honestly though, I like the episode more for the fact that Cobra Commander is in it. Sure, they call him "Old Snake" in the episode, but it's CLEARLY him!

Looking back at it, it is a unique take on the average "body-swap" episode and I like that they did something interesting with it. Does it make sense that a former general of a terrorist army somehow had the technology to force highly advanced robotic alien lifeforms out of their own body and turn them into humans? Not at all, but this is nonsense 80s cartoon logic so it gets a pass!

Transformers Animated used a similar concept once with Human Error Parts 1 and 2.

I wish we did as well, that would've been cool! Though I'm pretty sure Optimus was dead at this point. XD

I know it’s sad and Arcee barley knew Optimus during the movie and after his rebirth since she’s been handling Daniel

I mean, Cobra Commander had all kinds of ridiculous bull**** to make toys out of, because caring about logic is fairly recent.

Yeah fair, the guy was super ridiculous. And then he turned into a snake one time, but only stayed that way for like half a movie and a couple eps. XD
