This. Is my first vexel. Hoorah! I probably didnt choose the BEST photo for a first, but hey, i had fun anyway.So after reading a couple of cool tutorials Here for inspiration i was away! And let me tell you, i got a wee bit carried away with the whole "transition layer" thingy. Oh, you gotta love opacity slider.
It isnt perfect (or even close) Im not happy with the eyes. Something is seriously wrong there. But for my first vexel, im pretty proud. And at least now, after 7 or 8 (or78) more i can look back and see an improvement.
So anyway....thats my huge comment over with. Please critique/comment if you can

Is a vexel like photo manipulation or do you actually draw it?

you draw it, but with shapes, using the pen tool. So you draw one shape for the base and then add other smaller shapes with different colours opacities to get the colour variation and depth. There are a bunch of tutorials on the web if you search

I used photoshop cs, with the pen tool and a whole heap of layes! There are some relly cool vexel tutorials so you should def give it a go and tell me how it goes!!
