Yes, though this is unusual. He was hanging upside down on this wall so he may have felt it too precarious to move. I assured him I was not there to eat him and quickly moved along after I took his pic.

Neat shot, what amazing little scale this fella has.  It also amazes me how similar this is to the agama lizards we have over here, even though this is (I guess) an iguanian.

Thank you! I really love their distinctive dragon-like scales too!

My classification skills are sub-par, but I do not believe these are iguanian. We do have desert iguanas here in the Mojave and they are much smoother with pale sand and white coloring. Photography constantly tests my animal identification skills!

Hello!  Well my own classification skills aren't that great either but now checking on Wikipedia it would seem that yes, it is an iguanian - that means it belongs to the Iguania sub-order of lizards which includes iguanas proper and also many other lizards.  But now I see that actually agamas are iguanians too, and so are (true) chameleons.  I didn't realize our lizards were that closely related to yours!

Oh my gosh, I am so silly! You are right! They are a suborder of the family Phrynosomatidae.
