Mockingbirds take most of their sounds from the environment, including other mockingbirds, other bird vocalizations, the sounds of non-avian species (including dogs, frogs, etc), and even electronic sounds, like car alarms and cell phones. They are quite vocally rambunctious and loud. They also very territorial and I have been frequently βgrowledβ at by a mockingbird protecting his nest or territory. They are adorably grumpy and itβs funny to watch them dive bombing bigger birds, animals, and people who they perceive as a threat. I really like these feisty little birds.
