Description Seasprites were the aircraft component of the U.S. Navy's LAMPS Mk I suite. Β LAMPS: Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System, used for running the mail, chasing submarines, search & rescue and a myriad of other missions. Β I have a particular attachment to the SH-2s, and to this day I still like these better than the SH-60 variants used for the LAMPS Mk III upgrade.

I just wish I'd been been able to get a pic of me with one of these... I got my start as a sensor operator where the sonobuoy rack and window amidships are.

No worries... I used to volunteer there so I'm very fond of the place

Maybe, how did the serviceability rates compare? While the Seasprite can be used on smaller vessels, I think I like the Seahawks more.Β

Pretty sure that the 'Hawks have the edge in serviceability. Β But these birds had character... LOL. Β (The ones I rode in were pretty cranky ones most of the time, so I was able to identify with them easier)
