I did horse drawn carriage tours so I always look at your driving images and go heh look at this or that. Motivates me to want to try and draw HARPG carriage stuff xD

That must have been fun! I have never seen a harnessed horse in real life before, and it probably shows. But yes, you should totally do the carriage stuff! I made this tutorial in the very hopes of grabbing more harness buddies!

Very fun!! It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it. As a cartoonish kinda style the simplified harnesses work well! The only thing I'd say is that you don't have the traces (which is technically what makes the carriage move forward) - traces are just connected to/a part of the collar (that spreads the weight out).
Only if you want to be technical though! Simplified out like this works fine and you include lots of stuff to make it look like great and convincing xD
I'll have to try and draw something with my only registered harpg fawnling, so keep an eye out in the group :>

That's a really good point! You know, it seems I've blended the traces and the tugs, because those are too long for tugs but attach to the wrong place for traces...
It's my plan to release a 'part 2' to this tutorial, where I will show much more proper harness anatomy - but I must do more harness studies before I'm ready. Obviously!
And huzzah, I'm glad it still looks good! Maybe I will learn from your harness drawings too? I can't wait to see.

Honestly there is a lot of parts to a harness - and I'm by no means an expert. Sure I did it for 3 years, but I mostly had to go - okay, is this clean, is this part here, ok cross the reins, is the diaper low enough? is the diaper high enough? WHY DIAPER WHY (meltdown) - or when it started getting cold and I had morning panics - where's a working thermometer? What is your heart rate? are you breathing too fast? can I hear gut noises? is your side distended and/or hard? (x4 or x5) then feed. which was the worst
But here, I put up some pictures of the babies. I miss them, now that I'm looking at pictures :< sta.sh/21zpfqbzxwh4
Trust me, mine won't look near as cute as yours. I have to work on a style for sure, and inorganic stuff always has looked a little wonky. But I'll do my best for you, and practice makes perfect XD

Horses, they are so beautiful but the source of such stress. ;_;
Also YES, beautiful pictures and babies! That really does look a ton of fun!
And thank you, I really appreciate this compliment! But I have to say, it took me a dozen tries at least to get this far. I sure have a hard time trying to call my early learning pictures 'cute'... -> Check Your Turn Signal
But that just means, I can confirm, practice is what makes it better!

Woah! I've only done pleasure driving like once so trying to figure out the harness at this point is really confusing to me. This explains a lot xD Thank you for sharing!

Harnesses are plenty complicated enough to confuddle anyone's noggin lasagnas, I totally get it - took me half a year to get this far!
But I'm so glad that I could help you! I'm excited to see more driving pictures around!

Of the weird metaphors I've made, this one's definitely good. xD And experiments are super fun! I can't wait to see what you'll do!

I agree.
Thank you! Might be a while before I actually get down to it, but I've saved this to make it easier when I get to flesh out a sketch
