here's my incredibly overdue half of a trade with the ever wonderful *JamJams and this is her character Ren; who's just so darn CUTE >w<
I do not particularly like the way the scan turned out, but then again I never do... oh well. Ren was fun to draw! I can't say the same about the trees, but I do like the cheeba~ she made the picture exiting! I'm going to have to draw her again in a more monochromatic piece, because I feel the greens in this detract from the overall appeal, but maybe that's just because I'm a picky perfectionist with my stuff.... and never do backgrounds. But jammy does such lovely backgrounds, I wanted to return the favor at least a little. >.> my inferior colorationsssssss bah

Anatomy... lights... trees... colours... Goddammit, this is so darn amazing! How big is the original picture? O.O I was jst wondering, beause the details just can't be fit in A4, right?..... Right?

I'm seriously just at a loss for words right now!
I've been like seriously just sitting here staring at this in awe just thinking of the right words to say to even begin to describe just how much I simply love this.
Where do I even begin? First of all, I must say just how much I freaking love this!
The way you drew Ren is just truly incredible!
I love the way you drew her face, and how you captured both the cheetah aspects and the shiba inu aspects, without taking away from one or the other - I also must add just how beautiful her face looks. You also captured her unique anatomy so nicely.
Your coloring is so smooth, and soft that it really is just gorgeous. <3
Ugh, now that background... Holy crap that background... Its stunning!
I love all the details you put into the rocks, and trees and how that soft warm glow of the sun is shining through - It really just adds and ties the whole drawing together. I also must add I love the way you drew the water, and how you incorporated the water lilies, which is what Ren's name means. Really nice touch there. <3
I not only cannot thank you enough for being willing to do a trade with me, and your half truly puts mine to shame with how incredible it is. ;n; I mean really, I just cannot fully put into words just how amazing this is, and just how much I absoutly love it.

i can't put my finger on exactly what you did differently, but OHMIGOSH THE COLORS ARE SO SMOOOOOOTH. like the head and bottom legs are freaking velveteen fur or sometiing i don't know BUT I LOVE IT. might be the tame blue-greys?
can't say weather the background detracts from the focus, but i think the picture as a natural, pristine feel to it, so there's that. :/\
i think the leaf shadows help that alot; they're a nice touch :\/

I used a little bit of marker, and some really really waxy colored pencil lol I'm betting that's probably what made it smoother than usual~
nyaa you said they were lead shadows!!! I feel accomplished X3 everyone else was just like "those are some cool splotches" but couldn't tell what it was supposed to be~! yay for things turning out as planned >w<

methinks it's the marker.
i make it a point to notice and compliment things that require a lot of work for a subtle effect, since most people seem to overlook them.
