Description
Nightcrawler! I saw X-Men Apocalypse recently, and there was a lot of greatness about it, but the best part of it for me is the fact that they brought back Nightcrawler. He's propably my favourite X-Man OuOΒI drew a lot of him in the last couple of days, this felt like I could share it C: But there are actually a lot of other doodles which I'll propably stuff into my next dump.

Really like this. A very young Kurt, the strain, concentration, and will speaks volumes of the character.Β Well done. I've been a X-men fan for almost 30 years. Man that makes me feel old. Nightcrawler always been in my top five.

Dude I am a total NOOB when it comes to Comics and X-Men, the fact that someone who actually knows his shit about the characters appreciates my interpretation is so cool! I'd love to get into X-Men more though, the idea is so cool - and I REALLY like Nightcrawler, there's so much about him - his tail, his powers of course, his character in contrast to his visual design, his german origin (which is extra cool if you're from germany like me xD), etc...

Thanks! I wasn't sure about the colors, hence why I uploaded the inked version too. There are a few parts where the values look crappy for some reason. Glad you like it, I think three of my markers died for this picture x.x

I think the colours are pretty darn awesome! I hate it when markers die, especially when you don't have any replacements and you're in the middle of colouring!Β Β

Which was ecactly the situation I was in haha (that is why I made the dark background sort of fade out towards the rim ).

True, I also had this feeling a few times while drawing him. But he's actually a lot cooler if you ask me, I prefer small, energetic characters over large, slender types C: His tail is also capable of grabbing things or carrying his own body weight, which a Na'vi's is not. I really like the Na'vi design though (even more than the avatars from the movie actually, there are a few slight differences).

I didn't expect to see a colored version. O--O *stares* so awesome
Nightcrawler is my favorite x-man too XD He's just an epic character, but so shy and hasn't got a clue. XD If I had superpowers of any of the x-men, it would be to teleport and climb really well.
(i love imagining battle scenes of him)

Thanks. Wasn't sure if the colors worked out alright C:
For me it's almost a draw between Quicksilver and Nightcrawler. If I had to choose one of their abilities, I'd propably take the speedster ability (Because of all the AWESOME stuff Quicksilver does and how casual he is while doing it), but teleportation is already close second for me, and Nightcrawler gets extra points for his awesome looks (he's much more fun to draw) and his frickin TAIL. That thing is a character on it's own xD Plus what you mentioned about his personality, you'd think because of his looks that he'd be more shifty and demon-like in his behavior, similar to Azazel in First Class, but he's surprisingly kind and cheerful, which is really cool. I like how he always apologizes for everything xD

Thanks! Nightcrawler is so interesting! I am actually a comic book noob tbh, but I read a lot of his lore and backstory from the comics because I was interested, and there's a lot of awesome little trivia about him - for example, he always creates this "BAMF" sound whenever he teleports and disappears into a purple cloud of gas, that's because he sort of opens a tear into another dimension where the atmosphere is made of sulphur (the purple gas he leaves behind) and the sound is created by air streaming in rapidly to fill the vacuum he has left behind. He doesn't even notice that when he does it because it happens so fast, it's more of a subconscious action than anything else. And then there's his german origins, which is extra cool because I'm from germany too OwO I actually prefer the original english version of X-men Apocalypse because his german accent is not there when everything else is in german, too (it's a bit brutal though, my english accent is better than his xD).Β
You can read more about him here if you're interested, if not I am really sorry for wasting your time haha

I agree, He is interesting! When I was a kid I watched the crap out of a show called "X-Men evolution" (in which they are all teenagers sort of learning to cope with and harness their powers) and nightcrawler was my instant favorite.Β
It was the first time I had ever come across x-men and I was hooked ever since xD and yes I knew about the bamf thing! It's nice to find someone to geek out about it, most people that mention him when I throw in this (to me) interesting fact about him, they seem so nonchalant about the whole thing. I think the fact that he has German roots also drew me to him because I love Germany, (even though I've never been) but it's always been a dream of mine to go! ;w; And to learn the language, it sounds so beautiful to meΒ Β
I'll definitely check out the link, maybe there are some juicy things about him I've yet to learn *w* haha Thanks for the share Mono! Β

Never heard of this series before, but I watched a few episodes now and it ... is really cringy xD But Kurt is still really cool hahaΒ
And yep, I am really geeking out about him right now, did a whole lot of doodles, enough for a dump. Only waiting for an ok from someone who I stole a pose from C:Β Β
I really love digging into Marvel lore, although it just shows me what an amazing world I have missed because I never got into Β the comics (which I would love to).Β
A lot of people seem to like the german language, I can't tell how it must sound to outsiders though, and I actually think that english is a lot more straight forward and logical in the way it handles certain things. DunnowΒ
how to describe it actually haha

Voltaic-Soda In reply to MonoFlax [2016-09-19 08:51:20 +0000 UTC]
Definitely cringy but as I said, I was a kid at the time xD haha
Looking forward to that dump of yours ;w;Β
I love digging into the lore of anything, and I certainly love X-men, but the only characters who's life story and such I was ever interested in is Nightcrawler, Wolverine, rogue, and Storm.Β
No offense to the others xD I just favor them more than any others. Kurt especially because his character is just so well thought out and "alive" to me. Idk how to explain that but hopefully it makes sense hahaΒ
A lot of people say that about english, I would imagine it to be hard to learn because of all the slang and stuff but people seem to catch on fairly quick.Β

There are a couple of things they did with the series which I found admirable though, for example Nightcrawler has only three fingers, so even when he uses his holographic inducer he is still forced to walk around with his hands in constant "live-long-and-prosper" posture xD Awesome piece of continuity there Β
Nightcrawler is the first X-Man I have looked more into (well there's Wolverine, but that knowledge mainly comes from the movies). I also really like Magneto and Xavier and how they used to be buddies who now are enemies because they stand for different agendas, but they still recall that friendship they used to have and all that... I really dig this concept.Β

Voltaic-Soda In reply to MonoFlax [2016-09-22 14:20:48 +0000 UTC]
xD haha yes!
It is a cool concept, and always interesting to see the two interacting because you never really know how it will go. Manages to be quite unique in the oh so predictable "hero" vs "villain" world.
I like that Magneto can "fly" by using magnetic fields c: I always thought that was pretty clever. I never liked people just giving super beings (or mutants in this case) the ability to fly with no logical reasoning behind it besides "he's a superhero".Β
...really wanting to watch/read some x-men stuff now Β

MonoFlax In reply to Voltaic-Soda [2016-09-22 21:51:46 +0000 UTC]
I am not sure, but I think it's because of his armor right? For example in X-2 he couldn't fly until he had generated a plate of iron to stand on because he wasn't wearing armor at the time *goes on to research even more x-men lore*. And This Flying-Ex-Machina thing you mentioned is basically Storm or did I overlook something there?Β
so do I haha, I need to get into the comics at some point...

I think you have it right actually, I've never seen him "fly" around freely without his armor. I really dig his helmet, looks like it was inspired by Roman war helmets.Β
speaking of comics, I haven't heard anything about you and your friends web comic in a while?

That's because there wasn't a lot going on lately. We are working on a new way to tell the story we want (or more like what kind of story we want to tell to begin with) and settled with the idea of exploring our world and maybe a few characters via shortstories for a start- Mainly we are afraid that the huge, epic story we have in mind wouldn't ever possibly be finished as a project and we don't want to risk abandoning the entire comic because of that. So, basically we want to start smaller in order to get into making comics as a start. Look forward to a shortstory. It will come out eventually, Β I hope.
