I wondered how I have progressed since I joined DeviantART, so I redrew an old page from a sketchbook, which I had uploaded shortly after I joined here:Β Sketchbook #1Well, I've certainly learned how to draw toothless anatomically correct haha xD What do you guys think?

I'm really not a fan of seeing a lot of Nightfury art, but the detail in this makes him look fantastic!
I love coming across exceptions to something I'm not into at all. Reminds me of the advanced illustration class drawings I loved seeing whenever I was walking to class.

You know what's really funny? I actually can't stand that either xD Because most of the time I really don't care for the art whenever someone is drawing Night Furies excessively >.< There are a lot of people who are trying really hard but are way too inexperienced and in the end their art just looks cheap.
Your stuff on the other hand is really exceptional, gotta whatch you now xP

We've all been there at one time. xD Inexperienced, simple art. It's always great once you develop a specific style of your own instead of copying the same one constantly. MLP and TLK are the worst offenders when it comes to drawing everything in the same exact style. lolΒ

I get you, I really do. Especially MLP, it's everywhere!Β And what you said about your own style is also really true. I used to do a lot of realism when I was younger (which didn't hurt my skillΒ obviously) but it became repeatitive over time... now I haven't attempted a realistic drawing in ages, instead I try to draw everyday (with success for over a year until now) and the pieces are a lot simpler, but also a lot more true to what I really want to do, I guess.
No need to thank me, I just felt like I wanted to see more of your stuff in the future Β°uΒ°

The sense of weight in the tail on the new one is just perfect *u* The sense of weight on the whole body actually, it's very believable and perfectly executed! Big difference in emotion and huge difference in the skin texture.Β
