Description Found some awesome concept art for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban's werewolf design: monsterlegacy.files.wordpress.…
As a werewolf fan, I really hate this design xD It looks more like a mix of a grey dobermann and a rat than an actual werewolf. But I really like the design in the context of the movie. It makes sense for a character like Lupin, who never embraced his werewolf side as much as others, to transform into something uglier and ultimately sadder looking than an actual mighty wolf creature. No idea if that's actually what they were going for, but that's my interpretation of it.
Nevertheless, I wanted to put my version of a werewolf into the same location and see what it would look like, and here we are x3

Very woofy. Love the stance and anatomy. Not even the cold (as evidenced by the mist) will stand in the way of a prowling wolf...

How very woofy...

I did read somewhere they were referencing a Francisco Goya painting (The Witches' Kitchen) in the movie design. Who knows?

I refer to the start of the werewolf questline in the city of Whiterun. After the ritual infection with the werewolf curse, you as the player will encounter a nightmare-ish fever dream; chasing thru the town, the nearby woods and the landscape. It ends with the realization that the fever dream was actually real; the players first successful transformation as a new-born werewolf.

Ohhh I love that questline... Love how it empowers you as a werewolf. Just a bit unfortunate that they messed up on the leveling a bit... once you are a high level player the werewolf feature becomes little more than a gimmick. There is an AWESOME mod though that fixes a lot of the issues and adds a TON of features to center the experience a bit more around the werewolf feature. My favourite is one that transforms you into a werewolf at a set time. You can configure when you transform, how long it takes, you can make it so you have to spend the entire night in werewolf form. You can even make it more or less random to add a bit of spice. The mod includes moonphase settings that let you configure the likelihood of a transformation given the moonphase, so for example you can set the likelihood of a transformation to 100% on a full moon and 0% on every other moonphase for the classic werewolf experience, but you can also set it differently if you want. You can even set the durations of the moonphases as well. And it also has an ingame clock so you can keep track of the time of day and the moonphase. Just overall a BADASS mod. Ah yes *sighs* Mods... Makes me wanna dive right into Skyrim again. Unfortunately I fucked up my game by installing a total conversion mod while having a ton of mods in my actual game. Though I do consider getting the special edition sometime...

Oh wow, that sounds like a very interesting modification. Thanks for sharing :>

Can you recover your savegame somehow, or did the mod-pocalypse destroy everything? Oh boy, fingers crossed you don't need to start over from the very beginning... But well, if you have to start from the beginning, get yourself the special edition of the game. It has a lot of content, and interestingly some mods actually require the special edition of the game. So it would not be wrong to have it when you plan to toy around with some lovely mods. And it is already old enough to be cheap. Very, very cheap. You just need to know where to buy

Its okay. After such a long time i would propably start by doing a new character anyway. I‘ve been considering getting the SE version for a while now. I could let my regular skyrim stay in total-conversion form (which is basically an entirely new game altogether) and still have good ol‘ regular skyrim through the SE version. And i bet there‘ve been countless mods added after SE came out. I just hope my favorites have been updated...

Most mods had updates to make them compatible with the SE of the game. At least the mods from Nexus Mod Community. That is where I prefer to get my mods from. I think chances are very high that your favorite mods will be compatible with the SE. There are filter algorithms for the different versions of the game, so you can easily check the Nexus database.

Oh wow. That concept art is really sickly looking. I do prefer your floofier version that looks like it has fur on its body, head and limbs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MonoFlax In reply to InTheLionsDen [2017-12-19 06:38:42 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely agree! As I said, I despise the look of him, but that was kind of what they were going for if I am correct. Lupin tried to do as much as possible to supress his werewolf side. Its why he's so sickly looking in the whole movie (whole series, really). Heck, the look might even be directly tied to the wolfsbane potion. Maybe Lupin looked strong and floofy before he came to hogwarts and took that potion on a monthly basis. So I actually love the design in the context of the movie. Just wish we would've gotten a more floofier werewolf because other than the design of the actual werewolf, the transformation sequence in Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my absolute favorites. Also because the movie is one of my absolute favorites but whatever. xD
