Well, now, lookit how beautiful YOU are!! I've never seen a tri with a blue eye. Or heard of 'merle-factored'. Gorgeous pup, either way.

Thank you, I think he suits it very well, even if he will never make a show dog... Actually, his dad's brother also has the blue eye, he is also a tric...
[link] He is named SeAgCh SeAg(H)Ch Starbelle Tinsel, then beside him, there are records of a dog born almost a 100 years ago, he was also a tric with one blue eye; [link] What is funny is that all three have a large bliss, so it might be tied to the bliss? Who knows? Farris ( my dog ) is not a merle, because merling is a dominant trait, and none of his parents are merles, and he shows no sign of any merling anywhere.
Usually with a phantom-merle/cryptic merle, you will find a tiny tiny spot with merling, but Farris have none; the spots on his nose are from ticking and appear as the puppy gets older, while merling marks are present from birth.
[link] This is his pedigree; though none of his parents were merles, there is one merle back in the lines, but it's on the mother's side, and too far back to matter I believe, and the blue eye seems to have come from the father's side since his father's brother also has the blue eye...
( Sorry for the long post, I think the topic of genetics and passing down traits is fairly interesting...! )

That certainly IS unique! It's really cool you have those records dating back so far. The old fashioned style and soul of the 1900s and earlier dogs. I find phantom/cryptic merles fascinating; there's been a few Collie's I've seen like this, but usually have some merleing broken in like glass in their coat. Gorgeous little sheltie you've got there. A treasure!!
I love genetics and such, too. I think Border Collies are fascinating - they have every color and pattern under the sun, with any combination acceptible!!

Woah! This is an incredible photograph! Absolutely fantastic. There is something about the energy and life you've caught sparkling behind this boy's eyes that makes this shot all the more incredible.

I don't think it's possible for a tri to have a blue eye....jussayn... XD

It is, it's a condition called heterochromia.

I thought that was where the iris is a different color, not both eyes...lol, i really don't know though....

It is when you have either two different eye colours as in two separate ones, or it can be with specks/bits of different colours in one or both eyes...

Yes, it is very cool. Genetics are very very interesting, but it gets quite complicated...

That is a GORGEOUS black tri sheltie. I love that he has a complete heterochromia.
If I may point out politely; try turning down your blacks/shadows just a hair in PS to bring back some of his fur texture. You've lost it over-darkening.

Just wanted to add that I do really appriciate the feedback, though! I will try later to take better photographs, I would really like the texture of his fur in there, but not at the cost of making him seem grey and dull...

Thank you!
Thanks, but I liked it better this way, it's a personal taste thing. Also, I took the photo in strong sunlight, which makes it quite hard to get the texture in the black fur to stay without outblowing the white. I tried a less contrast, but it made him seem more grey than he is. I have an external flash, but I am waiting for a wireless transmitter so I can get it off the camera and putting it on a tripod so I don't hurt myself due to the heavy gear...
