Great job. I like everything except the end of the axe shaft. The color seems too light and the shape may be wrong. Maybe try it ending at the axe head? I am only adding this because you requested critique.

Wonderful character!
Personally, I am not a fan of the design on the head of the greataxe, but I don't think it detracts for the overall awesome of the piece.
