Description I was walking through an old cemetary in Savannah and I came across this grave. Out of all the graves, this is the only one that had a single flower. Why only this grave?

Almost 200 years later and someone still remembers this 9 year old that died in August of 1803.

A gorgeous shot. I kept searching for graves with flowers, but there were none when I visited. It's such a beautiful cemetery though.

This is a very expressive piece. It's very sweet, happy, and touching while oddly haunting and sad. I agree with what adam1975 said.. It is funny how sometimes the little things are remembered best..

I'm sure this death was tragic and definatly untimely, that's why it still has someone to mourn it. It's odd, how we, as people, remember and pay more respect to certain deaths than others.

There is a graveyard in the town I am from that has a grave that every year is covered with flowers by someone. No one really knows who does it or why, but it happens every year. The grave is something like 270 years old and as far as I know the person was not a significant member of the community in any way. Weird.

I would think a flower was left not so much as someone remembers the child but someone will remember the child and as proof he/she left that flower so when they take a moment in life to reflect on past events they will think of the fower they left for the child no one knows.

or maybe its a family tradition

Very touching. The single flower from what probably is a great great neice or nephew. Its amazing that its even there. As is shown by the forgotten stones everywhere else that you spoke of. Very haunting and strangely beautiful.

LOVE the colors and border you used here. this is definately a powerful piece. the composition reminds me of cemetaries i've been in where little children long ago past away will still have new teddies or flowers by their grave site. it makes you wonder who puts them there. it is very sad... great capture and framing!!!

Again, great idea with the frame! Very original. Really lovely photo too! I like that the stone is the center of attention.

It's a funny world we live in. We remember the little things, but forget the important thing. Well, I do.
