The socks are there to repeat the basic color pattern of her leotard and her hair. Β Having repeating shapes and colors throughout an image makes your eyes move throughout the image instead of locking in on one aspect.

Yeah, the socks aren't really working for me either. Socks work on Jazz because its very ninja and on Becky because it brings to mind flippers but on Alex it just seems off-putting.
Appearance aside, I'm very excited about seeing who is going to be the first mutant to make the undefeated human cry uncle, or whatever it is the winner makes her say!
