Description
Here is my application for PMD-Explorers. I was playing around with the Spread and Noise texture Watercolour Brush in SAI and aimed to make a cave painting-esque style.

Backstory
Maxilla never knew her mother. She was born straight into the skull of her long-deceased parent. Her mother risked her life defending her egg from the spontaneous eruptions and ravenous native Pokémon. This eventually led to her demise - she cradled her sole egg as she succumbed to exhaustion. Luckily, the heat from the heart of the volcano kept the cave of the late Marowak warm and incubated the egg.

Soon after, the scent of degrading flesh attracted a mother Houndour and her pups. The cave was perfect for the family to shelter and the carrion fed them for a few days. The mother Houndour discovered the egg hiding under the skull. She felt a wave of compassion sweep over her, which led the decision to guard the egg and raise the hatchling as her own.

Maxilla grew up with the Houndour family. Her foster mother taught the cubone what little she knew about her kind. She told stories of her brave Marowak mother and encouraged her daughter to always bear the skull and chosen bone with pride. Most of the other pups bullied the little cubone and mocked her for being different, but Cuspid took a liking to the feisty attitude of his strange little sister and defended her as fiercely as their mother did.

When the time came to leave the family, Maxilla and Cuspid decided to head down the volcano to search for adventure and discover new lands. They heard tales of explorer teams who did just that, and so began their quest to find out how to join up with a guild.
