Description Well, this is my second big GIMP project I guess. It's primary purpose was to help me figure out how to combine photos, which I did so I guess it's good. I combined four different photos here and all were pulled off the internet so I'm really hoping I didn't miss a copyright sign somewhere, 'cause I really did check. *crossing fingers, hoing this isn't illegal* The only thing I really hate is the fact that the light comes from different angles in every picture, so you can tell they don't all go together.

It's a start I suppose. It will get better in the future.

Look! I can make a porcupine!

I haven't seen the new Indiana Jones movie, have you? People say there were alot of stunt doubles. (surprise surprise)

The old movies were good, if you ignored the craptastic special effects. But then, I guess modern day special effects aren't all that wonderful either. I mean, Narnia was great, but have you ever watched the basilisk in Harry potter? You can almost see the techies struggling with their puppet strings!

i give the techies points for valiant effort. special effects today are pretty good though, especially compared to those of even 10 years ago. Lord of the Rings is proof of that. those movies are soooooo cool. and the fifth Harry Potter ending scenes (battles, etc.) are awesome too.

Yes, Lord of the Rings is amazing. I was so disappointed though, when I found out how few of my classmates who were ranting about it had actually read the books. I mean, how are you supposed to really discuss a book based movie unless you've read the story? And the movies left so much out! Given, they did a very good job working out which parts to leave out, but you don't really come to grips with the movies until you have at least glanced over the details of the books.

While I was watching the fifth Harry potter movie, I think Iwas a little loopy on tylenol, because everything was hilarious. Like when Sirius falls through the veil, all I could think was "don't ripp the pretty tissue paper!" And during that shot of Voldemort blowing fire, I couldn't help turning to my sister and whispering "someone needs a tic tac." The only scene that really blew me away waswhen all the prophesies were falling in waves and waves and shattering behind the characters as they ran. I didn't relize I wasn't breathing until I caught myself gasping when it ended.

agreed. they are awesome movies, but at least GLANCING at the books is helpful. they left out quite a bit of stuff. but then again, they DID do an amazing job regardless, and the special effects are top-notch. i didn't realize i was scared of the nazgul until my sister reminded me air was my friend. still, i'm braver. she won't watch Lord of the Rings cause she's scared of Golum. understandable, but i find a giant murderous flying worm WAY scarier than a an murderous albino midget in a loincloth with a scary voice.

i can't believe you did!! really? perfect comment!! A+ it wasn't how i pictured the veil at all. and despite the madness of your words, that Voldemort comment was pretty funny. the prophesies were awesome. that whole scene was great. i also loved the scene when the Order is fighting in the veil room, and they're all like smoke with a mind of its own. it was just so cool looking, even if it wasn't at all how i pictured the scene.

It's true that movies will alwayws be somewhat disappointing because they will never comply with how someone pictures it. The line between a good movie and a bad movie is the line that takes what has been imagined by one person, and ups it to a point that at least half the audience can accept what they're seeing in place of their own imaginings. When the audience is willing to admit that what they're seeing is cooler than what they imagined, your movie wil ALWAYS get good reviews.

Just another observation of the human psyche.

impressive. your logic has triumphed yet again. and it is true, a good movie is one that makes you audience love the movie interpretation as much as, if not more than, their own.

I have a random question that in no way relates to the movie topic: How do you do the "special feature" thing for your favoritedrawing of your own? You know, the spot that shows up above the "recent deviations" box. The one headed by the mona Lisa with a little heart by it. How do you set that thing up? I can't find it for the life of me!

HippieLlama In reply to mooing-duckerberry [2008-07-30 15:24:21 +0000 UTC]

you go to userpage display (on the 'edit settings and profile' thingy) and under userpage elements it's the 'featured deviation' thing. all your stuff is there, and you just pick your favorite one or whichever one you want to show off. does that help?

You're welcome Hm, make the tiger look more like he's there. Put a little orange in the puddle beside him for a reflection. You could even make the tiger seem to be coming out of the clouds/mist by fading white over his back and kinda engulfing him. Try adding some more colors , maybe some plants, to make it easier with plants use the vine thing in GIMP Hope this helps

oh how cute! true about the light. I like it how where he is stepping it looks as if the ground is exploding--if you don't think of it as water, that is. I'd love it if you made like a mini city picture with this freaking huge tiger just crashing along... destruction.. al lthat fun stuff. Anyhow, good work? Ans how much does that program cost?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mooing-duckerberry In reply to tree-bird [2008-07-06 01:38:09 +0000 UTC]

The program's free and it's amazing. Just google GIMP to get a free download. It's more advanced than paint, and easier to figure out than photoshop (which is of the devil.)

I took Multimedia this last year.. if you think photoshop is hard, try strata. It's more painful than beating your head against a wall.. and getting a grade for it :S but I'll try GIMP

Sounds evil. I tried a demo of something like that once. I lost all my objects in the infinite grid of horror. It wasn't good. I deleted the demo. Did you still pull a decent grade out of the class?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tree-bird In reply to mooing-duckerberry [2008-07-07 02:07:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah I got 98%. It was hard. But I found a few shortcuts and I also had two periods in the computer lab, and one of the classes was wayyyy easy, so once I finished the easy work I pretty much got twice the time to work on my strata assignments. Cheating, yes. But.. well, why not?

I like standard poodles. They're cool. But these are tiny toy poodles one of which refuses to eat unless you prepare its food perfectly and all this weird stuff. It's anorexic skinny, and just sits in a corner barking for the most part. (twitch, twitch)
