Description I colored this pic in OpenCanvas instead of Photoshop, and I'd be very curious as to people's opinions of the difference. Am I better with PS? is there somefin I can do to improve? Go go, comment! I wanna know!

You know, this looks better in full view for some reason. A first with your work.

I won't tell anything about difference, because I'm not good with cg anyways, and for me it's the same!

I especially like this picture so I'll just let a comment there! I love her face!!

Personally, I think this is the best work you've produced to date; I prefer the fine lines you used for most of the outline and details (instead of the heavier lines you've used in the past), and the coloring has a nice watercolor effect (my personal favorite in media). The shading in her hair uses a nice set of colors and looks natural, and you also did a great job on her expression: contemplative, perhaps a little sad. I think your work has shown a great deal of progress.

On another note, I see you're another Bay-area Bunny. Yay!

I'm really fond of this style of coloring, but thats just me. It looks like it was done in marker or some kind of traditional media and everything blends together really well. The subdued colors prevent it from looking too flashy too Hope to see more like this!

Oh Whooeee-awuugaa!! You SCORE'd! /Silly Sound FX's (I sometime loose the capbailty to form real words.. ususally when I'm excited)

I'd Like it.. I've seen, nope, I know an artist who strive for that and can't do it. A few minor details that I'd looked for are slightly out.

I will not tell you the artist name, he requested to remain anonomus..

I agree that the coloring came out really well in this! The shades do seem to blend together more, which gives the impression of softness. I'd like to see more OC pics

Oh and I just noticed something, the left hand looks a little wonky. Very good job otherwise though, the hair looks especially nice.

Overall I'd say you're better, but this style does give a very nice soft feel that fits well with the pic.

On color choice, I'm not sure if the green fits with the other more muted colors, but overall it's very nice

Well...Daste did already state what I'd say about the differences....the difference though with your Photoshopping skills is that you forget to loosen up when coloring and to use whatever you have at hand for the drawing...really it's nothing more than being scared of Photoshop. though I will admit, your OpenCanvas stuff is much nicer, as the sketchiness fits so much better.^^

seeing as you use a tablet like me, when doing Photoshop colorings, use the Magic Wand to select what you want to shade before doing it...oh, and use other layers for shading and color, it helps a lot.^^

Usually I like a lot your colouring in Photoshop, but this one is different. I can't say exactly if it's better, it just conveys a different feeling. Bright PS colouring makes me think about artwork for games, character sheets, animated series. This soft, watery colouring made with OpenCanvas, instead makes me think about pro illustrations for a book. The mood is different: PS colouring is more "wild", alive, striking, and would be fitting when you want to convey action, strong emotions, or simply be cheerful - OC colouring is more calm and blurred, and would be fitting when you want to give a quiet, reflective feeling. So it's simply perfect for the "pensive random girl" portrait you made ^^

From the purely aesthetic point of view, I like it a lot! She looks so... I dunno, soft and alive, very real. An excellent work! The only thing I would point out is the colour for the shading on her arms and neck, which looks a bit too grey, but other than that, it's awesome.
Yay for shiney realistic hair!

Thanks! This is definitely the kind thing I'm looking for, very interesting to read ^^
Regarding the arms and neck, I kinda did the face first and forgot to palette out the colors, so I had to guess on what I'd used when I shaded them. Bad me! ^_^;;;;;

OK, the uncolored version was pretty, but she's just damned beautiful!

Seriously? The soft colors really make this picture, in my mind. They make her look nice, they give it the kind of mood the pose is trying to achieve, and I just have to compliment the eyes, because every time I look back up to see what else I can say I keep getting drawn to them.

*weeee* first comment

Well, can't say too much about differences, I can just say it looks GREAT! I like the effect in her hair, and those sleeve thingies. Although I'd personally say they don't quite match to the rest of her outfit. But I better keep my mouth shut, as I can't come up with clothing ideas myself at all..... o_O
