Description A little shoulder bag I made so I have something to carry my phone and stuff in when I don't have any pockets, without carrying my school bag everywhere.    I really like how it came out!

Here's the pattern:

Gauge isn't really important, if you crochet loosely like me you'll get two 7 by 9 inch squares

With a G hook and worsted weight yarn, chain 27
  • Sc in second chain from hook and across
  • Turn, dc across
  • Turn, dc in same dc, [skip two, 2dc in dc, 2dc in dc] until the end of the row, end with 2dc in dc
  • Turn, sc across
  • Turn, dc in next sc, [chain 1, skip a stitch, dc in next sc] until the end of the row, end with dc in last 2 stitches
  • Dc across
  • Sc in next st, [chain 3, skip a stitch, sc in next stitch] until the end of the row, end with sc in last st
  • Dc across
  • Dc in same st as turning chain, [skip 3 sts, 4dc in next st] until the end of well you get it, end with 2dc in last stitch
  • Dc across
  • Repeat row 3
  • Dc across
  • Repeat row 5
  • Dc across
  • Sc across, fasten off
  • Make two squares as above.  Hold the right sides (odd-numbered rows are on the right side) together, whipstitch evenly around three sides.
You can make a lining from whatever scrap fabric you've got lying around if you want to make sure stuff doesn't fall through the holes, just cut two rectangles to match the measurements of your bag plus an inch, sew three sides together and hem the fourth side.  You can even machine sew it to the bag, that's what I did.  Or just tack it.  It's up to you
For the strap I just braided three strands together and tied it to either side.
