Description
I get really excited this time of year and carving pumpkins is a big deal. It seemed fitting to go with a spider this year, considering my fascination with them. Enjoy my blazing friend, he was quite a trip to create.Happy Halloween my friends, Blessed Samhain.

Spiders give me the creeps, but this one is so very thoughtful, look at him creeping into his corner...delightfully yuckie!

Damn! it's like spider haven in your gallery. Definitely my kind of place.
This was carved in a pumpkin? If so, that's awesome!

Yeah, I'm the spider queen.. it's a little odd that I have so many around my house but I like them so it doesn't bother me
Yep, it's a carving, it took me about two hours because the web was really messing with my head in conjunction with the spider legs but it worked out in the end Thank you for taking the time

That's badass. I've always wanted to give pumpkin carving a shot - haven't tried it with the right tools yet though - perhaps I should. Thanks to you, I was dreaming about carving various pumpkins all night last night. You have great skill with the craft. [the gourd is strong with this one.

Fantastic! How did you manage to get the carved area to show up while masking the rest of the pumpkin?

I turned off all lights so the candle inside caused a backlighting effect

hahaha i wish my pumpkins were half as cool as that.
usually when i carve a pumpkin....it just ends up as 3 holes on the pumpin that doesn't look like anything really....
now...question time...how come the edges are blurry? if you did it on purpose, why?

It's the glow from the candle inside the pumpkin, this is pure backlighting so I could drown out the colour of the pumpkin itself and get the blackness in the background.
As such the light feeds through the cuts in the pumpkin causing a neat bleeding effect because light wraps around edges a little it doesn't just shoot straight out (as explained by ` superkev at your seminar)

hmm thought so too, but the picture looks uber pixelated on my laptop so eveyrthing is sort of blended together so i couldn't exactly tell.
Lets suppose you bump into a group of beginners who are equipment measurebators....what would you do?

Try to understand why they're about the equipment so I can explain why it's not about the stuff you own but the stuff you have inside.
