Description It was hard not to fall in love with her. I found her in Kensington Market in Toronto and watched her chalking the side of the building while her family sold their wares in the marketplace. I'd been focused on her for about 15 minutes when she finally turned. She came over to see the picture when I was done and decided she looked pretty enough for me to keep it.

I love children.

i know it's a pretty old picture... but it just inspired me! almost forgot how da can get someone's creative juices going...

i mean i was looking at this girl and wondering who she was... why was she all by herself and what would make her want to paint on that particular wall and those rectangular colorful patterns... and why did she stand on that box to do it...

(u answered a few of those questions lol) but yeah it inspired me in a way thanks

This image is horrible.
The concept (if there was one) brings my breath back. The composition (if you weren't lucky) blinds my eyes , and the expression could not be expressed better than the title (I simply love how you threw out a title before a photograph: perfektion.)

ps. you get it now why this image is so horrible?

Amazing. It sort of looks the getto kids' art. In Armenia where ive lived for 2.5 years there is so much artists like this despite the third world enviroment, over there its like the whole world is an art gallery. Sometimes you can make awesome art even if your pencils are coal and your paper is concrete.

I think this is one of the strongest shots in your gallery. I think she has an undeniable personality and character and you captured it quite well. The boxes in the background melt into some kind of pattern that creates a cool overall look for the piece. The grafitti is, of course, always fun! My only crit is that the flow doesn't really work for me in this one. Your attention starts at the girl then just follows up the boxes and wanders off.... Maybe its just me :0

She was a very neat character to stumble across and I agree my eyes trail to the boxes and wanders, it's the diagonal

Thank you

yea i really like these images of people doing something, especially when the photo is taken just as the "subject" turnes at the camera...a similar thing happend to me in india recently with a group of girls making a RUG..... i also like the fact that the boxes are in the background, as you can tell that its located near a market stall... soo yea nice one!!! interesting i must say!!

i wonder if she'd be offended if i said that my favorite part of this was all the boxes in the background rather than the girl? i just love all the different sizes, shapes, positions, and colors thrown on top of each other. beauty in chaos as in order. she looks like she was interesting to run into. the world needs more people who put color into it. i probably wouldn't have had the patience to stand there for 15 minutes waiting for her to turn around though. nice shot.

I like the black and white because its more stark, more emotional, but the color makes me focus more on the girl and what she's doing, rather than the val-kilmer-love in the background. Beautiful how she's adding color to a drab world.

aside note...does the wall above her say 'val kilmer'? that made me smile

it's very cluttered... but the story is a good one... patience is a virtue... would it been a better photo if you'd have captured her unknowing, and did you get one of her deep in thought about her chalking, not thinking that there was a lens pointing at her..?

it... just looks like she's ready to charge you for the privelage of taking her photo!

as long as i'm not putting in my five-bobs worth where it's not wanted...

donc... you could slice the photo in half vertically, and for me, it would be much more powerful. I'm only just regaining my own portraiture works, and I am being maybe a tad critical, for my own selfish reasons. I hated portraiture at university, it really did annoy me... nobody ever gets it just right! most of all ME!
