This pic is based on a silly fan-theory that says Sonic is the ultimate lifeform, or at least part of the project. This theory is not true of many reasons, but its fun to come up with why this theory may be plausible.My take on it is that Sonic was made before Shadow and was something like a prototype. He was made differently than Shadow in that he was made to grow' naturally' instead of being immediately grown up as a method to develop a cure for NIDS. Something happened to Sonic that caused him to be ejected to Mobius/Earth and be in stasis until someone found him about 50 years later. From that point, Sonic grew up as an orphan on Christmas island.
Again, this theory is false, but I don't really see much fanart about it, despite being a popular theory.

I always thought Shadow's DNA was based from Sonic's grandpa or something

Actuality, it came from Black Doom and a random hedgehog.
It's not known what other DNA Shadow has, but he IS based on Super Sonic from the muro seen in Sonic 3 and Knuckles fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/201… . In Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, there are prototype that looks a lot like Chaos as well as data on Angel Island.

We don't know which hedgehog that is. This still leaves the question of where Sonic gets his speed from
