dude this looks sick!!! something you might have fun playing with is having the lines inside the drawing a lighter color than the outside!!!

Thank you ;___;
And I’ll definitely play around with some different line colours!

I think the cell shading works pretty well here. Sometimes the colors you choose make a big difference. If you felt you don't need it later on, you can perhaps try a lighter shade to see how it changes the dynamic.

I'm not sure what program you use, but sometimes what I'll do is save the current file as a new file, then play around with the shades/highlights layer colors by using hue/saturation to change the color's hue, the strength (saturation) and light/darkness. Even messing with layer opacity can help. Just a quick way to figure out what you want, and it helps you learn new things about color theory.
With that said, it may help you out to look up guides and articles on color theory. I grew up drawing, but many things I learned in high school and college did help me a lot. I even knew what color *the dress* was when that was viral.

tbh, i think your lineart style actually works really well without shading?? o:
i look forward to seeing your experimentation anyway, but for what it's worth, i don't think shading is always necessary
((i was actually just reading a graphic novel that had beautiful lineart & flats, but later on they added shading & it made me super upset, lol sometimes flats & a well-chosen palette are all you need <3 ))

So true! I love seeing flats just as much as heavier shaded work, especially graphic novels look so good as flats. The one that use simple flats with a bright colour scheme are always my favourite!
(shading is an important skill to learn to learn so I’m going to experiment for a while, but it so nice to hear you like my style as it is )
