Description Shi'Rah Creatures. Full name: Shi'e'a'ru'reh' Ra'han'a'man.
Pronounced: "Shy-ee-ah-roo-ree, Ra-han-ah-man"

Sub-Species featured in factsheet and competition: Seih'Rah. Pronounced "Sigh-Ra"

There are two other Sub-Species, then three more in the cousin breed category.

Seih'Rah:
Height: 17hh (horse terms, from ground to top of wither (where wing starts))
Sub-Specie: Winged Shi'Rah
Colours: Any

Babies:

Seih'Rah are born colourless, except for the eyes, these are 'liquid' black.
After a week thier colours 'fade' in till it reaches it's 'staying-shade' at the third week.
After one week the eyes turn 'normal', means that thier eye-colour turns the shade it will hold the rest of it's life.

Babies are born with short manes (much like a foal), it is said that they are 'mourning' for thier lack of colour.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It is a sign of mourning when a Shi'Rah cut's it's mane~~~~~~
Seih'Rah eyes can be: 'liquid', cat-like, goat-like, human-like, and even snake-like. It is yet unknown why thier eyes can be so different.
Females:
Have four nipples at the base of the stomach
Birthings are in litters of 1-4.
Pregnancy is half a year, roughly six months.
Males:
Have these same nipples, yet as far as research has shown, are entirely useless.
More males are born than females.
In some villages there has been more females than males.
And in others, more males than females.
Shi'Rah courtship:
marry or pairing: "join wings"
Two sets of couples have been known to 'join wings'. x2 females. x2 males.
It is more likely for males to be homosexual.
Some have two or more lovers, and others stay paired to just one.
When a Seh'Rah pairs it'self to a lover or lovers, they wear a 'Taken' bracelet on thier right forelegg.
Anything from thin chain to a solid metal cuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Habitat or Dwelling~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is called 'The mound'. Like a village inside a city of mud, earth, clay, grasses.

A mud-brick 'termite-hill-like' mound, also called a 'castle'
These 'mounds' can be anywhere from rock bases to on the edge of a forest.

It is hollowed out with rooms and corridoors, flat bits with raised fences that are open like 'courtyards'.
Sleeping quarters are just below surface in cozy holes.

Dungeons or jails are well below ground.

Main kingdoms are: North, East, South and West.
However castles are dotted everywhere in sub-kingdoms and villages.
They have either a king or a queen, never both!

Each King or Queen has thier own 'Harem'.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~More info on the 'mounds'~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi there.
Well letsee...the mounds are also very similar to rabbit warrens, you ever read 'Watership down'?
The 'floors' are hardpacked earth..almost like clay, the corridoors are so well used that the constant trampling firms the earth.
Most everyday corridoors are large enough for a full-grown Shie'Rah to walk comfortably and even spread thier wings halfway above them, 2 can pass by comfortably. Floor is solid packed earth like hardened clay mixed with a substance so it doesn't crack too easily.
Hallways are bigger still allowing 3 to walk abrest on either side. so if they all stood in a line 6 would stand comfortably with room spare to manuvere around. These tend to have marble-like floors, With 'windows' out and side holes for air and ventalation. (smaller species of Shi'Rah dig these)
Gathering rooms are huge enough for a family to comfortably lounge about...families consist of perhaps 6-10 individuals. A 'family unit' doesn't always have blood relatives. They can all be lovers for instance.
Halls are bigger still, and grandhalls are for royalty to hold banquets, balls, entertainment etc. These have beautiful rugs and such. Floors can be either Marble or allabaster stone...some kings and queens prefer checkered to plain colour.
Bedrooms are big enough for 2 Shie'Rah to sleep and manuvure comfortably, unless like before mentioned there is a 'lovers' 'family unit' in which case the bedroom is way larger. Rugs over hard packed earth. Silks and sheets on ceilling with again ventillation holes. The 'bedrooms' tend to be quite oval or circular with no corners only the floor is straight.
Shie'Rah love huge lavishly decorated soft beds with loads of cushions and tassels...again think arab shiek. The beds tend to be round and set in the middle of the room.
Kings and Queens have a much bigger bed still, with smaller beds littered around the edges of the room. The 'main' bed is a 3 poster which has a canopy/curtains of either light muslin or heavy velvet. The curtains are attached with circular wood over a pole for easy sliding. The posts are set into the ground a metre or so away from the bed (so no one trips over) like a kinda tent in the middle of the room lol.
Interesting creatures, but what about their behavior? Do they behave like humans and is their civilization and way of ruling similar to any kind of former human civilization?
Slowww they kinda come from a Fae realm as to a human realm, so things are a bit different.
not quite, they would still b at a gangly-foal stage, but thier wings would be almost adult size by the time of flight...so they be huge lol.
I wonder how they construct their "castles" for some reason I imagine them bartering with elves or some such to help with the detail work, it would be difficult to construct something more complex than a hole in a ground without the aid of thumbs. But maybe I'm wrong and they aren't much more detailed than a wolf den. Interesting ideas though. Love how you go into depth about their habits.
Good question, don't know why i didn't mention it before. The paw is like a very long hand, with extensive webbing between the toes, so it looks like a normal small cat-paw with retractible claws from a distance. The paw/toe-pads are dew-drop shaped so they can grip and handle delicate objects. The thum curls up (again looking like a retractible dew-claw) but can extend down to form an oposable usuable thumb. They are great designers of head-jewelery, beadwork for thier hair and the likes. They love weaving rugs for thier hard clay floors. The tunnels are quite plain without thier tapestries and lavish velvit-like curtains.
They love jewelery, beadwork, weaving, rug-making. Anything insanely detailed and intricate. Think art neuvou.
I still like my bartering with elves idea, but your solution works too
Makes me think of the great polorbears in "his dark material series" how the bears still had the dexterity to craft their armor.
Scary thing is - barring mane, tail and wings I have a dog very much like that in build...
He's a rocket dog. Runs on ethane and doesn't stop.
