Description
A friend who studies 3D [Computer Graphics, CG on Alias Maya][link]
is willing to make a 3D version of my character Dota! xD
That's an incredible proposition.
So then I've made this model sheet to help out on his studies,
since 3D requires usually 2D designs for every model project.
NOTE: the front and back views have her facial elements and hair fucked up. I've never fixed those because I NEVER draw their head/face/hair at 100% front or 100% back views.
Also, one good thing of doing this model sheet, was that I could identify precisely which were some of the tricky spacial proportions of this character [as you can check looking at the weaker horizontal lines at some heights; and also at some strange heights of the thicker lines, which makes for the 6 heads tall]. Before this model sheet, I just knew such proportions by visual intuition.

Oh hey, I'm studing 3D too, but it is on 3D Max and I looking for an image of Model Sheet. I saw your model and I liked.
I came to ask if you aprove me to use your model, but it's just for practice

Sure, if you still want to; you may publish as well (sorry for delayed answer).
However, be aware that this model sheet has some design trouble for 3D adaptation which I've discovered only after trying many times.
If you want I can provide you an actualized model sheet of this character; even with some 3D references images I've made of it.

Of course, I will be grateful if you can send the updated design.

Here you go:

pre13.deviantart.net/89be/th/p…
I'm terribly sorry for the poor quality of the reference material and for the time it took.
What can be said, however, about those references, is that the overall proportions and forms are, at least, about 85% precise concerning this cartoon style, and it could be improved with personal input.

Well, don't worry, I guess I can do something based in these two pictures.
And maybe if I can't make something I extempore
Thanks~

Good luck, fellow. I'm also curious about what you'd be making from it, or even the discoveries you might make concerning the modeling of this kind of style.

I wanted to know, could I burrow this sketch for educational purpose?
I'll show you what I've done with it.

Sure, go ahead.
If necessary, you may also transform/reinterpret it.
Quoting me the author also isn't necessary, though I'd be double-honored if you did so. xD
Thanks for asking.

I'm having some issues about your drawing. The bottom of the feet aren't on the same level. I also got some troubles modeling the feet and hand, they are not clear enough for allowing me to make it 3D. Do you think you could adjust these? If you don't want to, or can't, I don't mind. It's your call.
P.S : You can go see what I've done so far on my profile.

Sir, I've just made the adjustments,
Maybe it's workable now?

Hello, thank you for reporting these problems for 3d modeling technique.
I'll try to retake the hands in more a clearer version, don't worry. Possibly today.
For the bottom feet issue, I will also fix some little things to make it clearer btw, but consider also that in the model sheet I've actually indicated information wrongly, because I wanted to indicate by that 'bottom feet horizontal line' just "ONE of her foot's bottom" (in this case, it's her left foot, which is the foot from the leg which is ALWAYS straightened in every one of the 4 drawing). It means that the OTHER leg and its foot are the wrong ones to be used in modeling,
for they REALLY weren't drawn to match the horizontal line. Thus, such leg and foot should be discarded for modeling since you may take the modeling visual reference just from her left leg and its foot (the correct choice) and mirror this to generate a correct flipped leg and foot in the empty side. Got the idea?
In the worst case scenario, I can mirror the design myself, to make it easier if you have some difficulty.
Sorry for much text.

x3 Dhank you.
I prefer less technical drawings usually,
but I'm glad I could succeed on this one in some ways.

Moonlance In reply to AnselmoxD [2011-11-06 23:41:11 +0000 UTC]
