Description
The Librarians is a good show, so I tried to copy the overly whitewashed promo pictures they have. And failed. But whatever. 1 of 3.Also on tumblr!

For sure, Pauling looks WAY better with the normals for her hair. I will see how far I can go in detail with her hair later on, but overall, this looks amazing! Only problem I see is that the right arm looks like it is clipping slightly through the chest.

Valve's pauling had a little bit of normals in her hair, which uber had a better time re-making than I did (the phong got very messed up when I tried to do it on the model instead of using an override from within sfm), but ye, thanks! Her right elbow was giving me a terrible time, I spent most of it trying to twist the shoulder so the arm wouldn't be twisted in to a flat line. And don't even get me started on scout's pose. I tried to do it manually for a while, then I gave up and edited the animation where he swings the bat instead.

LOL as for the normals, I started using this online normal maker. cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Onl⦠As for scout, the faceposing looks WAY different from that of a normal scout's. He looks like a different character completely!!!! As for the arm twisting, usually using collar and bending the spine parts a specific way can actually help out with showing less clipping of the body parts.

Oooh I'll have to try this normal thing online sometime. Gimp isn't good with making smooth files, I tend to have to smudge them quite a bit just to make them presentable.
I don't know about scout's face, he looks like scout to me.
And yeah, I spent so much time on pauling's shoulder I kinda gave up on scout's much faster... I was hoping the animation post might help me out a little, I guess not.

LOL the trick with pauling is to have the radii of the arm either between her breasts or more to the side of the chest. These are basically some pretty interesting concepts I learned involving posing using some plastic figurines in anatomy class, which showed a lot of motions that can be fucked up in real life as well as in animation if not done right.Β

Aaaha, well, I'll have to keep it in mind next time I raise one of her arms up!
