I could have wokre further on this picture, but there's a moment when you really need to stop yourself... I am very happy with how this picture appeared in my head, and a little happy less with how it turned out in the end
But at least - I am working my way into digital painting at last!

Nicely done, I like how it's a merman instead of mermaid. As it seems (to me anyway) there are more females then males, it can only mean that all the mermen are getting caught by the ships. Sad day for both parties. Haha. This piece explains much.

Heh heh, "no, you can't eat him". I love his position, almost as if he wants all the fish for himself! Also, the look on his face is almost to say "Kay, you caught me, now, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to go back in the water!".

The painterly style in this piece is really good, girlie!
The shimmery scales look great; whether you used a custom brush or painted those scales in all by hand, it was worth it. The musculature is really well-defined here, and it shows off your knowledge of male anatomy really well. Also, the shadow cast by his fin on the deck; I can't stop looking at it. ^^ Great job; also with the fisherman's hands and knife.
Only thing you might consider if you're bored on a rainy day is touching up his left hand (our right); it's a bit small and undeveloped. Aside from maybe working that, this piece is really fluid!

Man, that's awesome! He's a very, very pretty boy, not to mention that the detail in every aspect of the picture is amazing. The expression on his face isn't quite what I'd expect, but maybe he's not very scared of the knife-wielding man (or woman?) for some reason. But it's cute how he looks more "Oh you caught me, good job, now throw me back" rather than "Oh dear, please don't hurt me". Definately a fave.
