Description
I was inspired to create this image after I got my new computer last weekend. The harddrive on my "old" computer died last week. (The computer was only a month old.) Toshiba was absolutely no help, but I was able to recover my files before it died completely. At least the people at Circuit City were nice and let me exchange it. I could have had any machine in the story (plus or minus the price difference). And, genius that I am, I picked the model that had replaced my old one. I knew it was a chance, but I really liked my last computer while it was actually working. So far my luck has held.
I made this render (in LightWave) to use as my wallpaper and to remind myself that computers and the hardware in them can be exceptionally unreliable, and that you can count on them no more than you can count on a roll of the dice. Maybe the hell I went through last week trying to save my files combined with this image will teach me to back up my work better than all my dad's lectures when I was little about how import backing my stuff up on floppy was.
Anyway, comments are always welcome. I'm still very new to LightWave and have a lot to learn.

I like it, I think the objects are placed well my only sudgestion would be that it seems to shine just a tad to much. it distracts me from the actual object

Great job on the piece itself and the little message behind it

You speak to the right man. My first IBM harddrive crashed 4 days after i got it, and the second one seems to have lowered my performance for 2 years. Never IBM again!
Computers is a risky and expensive buisness, and the image shows it really nice

O wow such a cool image! I love the reflections in the black circuit board and the angle of the dice. Making them translucent was a cool idea
it would be so cool to see the circuit bored shatter form one of the dice shooting though it. Then seeing the reflections of the other sides of the dice on the flouting broken pieces of the black circuit bored

The opacity of the shadows is awesome... I like the perspective tricks with the circuit board...
Logic and Chance is a very poetic title, too.. It's cool you were able to combine the two motifs - dice and logical circuits...
