I was inspired to create this image after I got my new computer last weekend.

The harddrive on my "old" computer died last week. (The computer was only a month old.) Toshiba was absolutely no help, but I was able to recover my files before it died completely. At least the people at Circuit City were nice and let me exchange it. I could have had any machine in the story (plus or minus the price difference). And, genius that I am, I picked the model that had replaced my old one. I knew it was a chance, but I really liked my last computer while it was actually working. So far my luck has held.

I made this render (in LightWave) to use as my wallpaper and to remind myself that computers and the hardware in them can be exceptionally unreliable, and that you can count on them no more than you can count on a roll of the dice. Maybe the hell I went through last week trying to save my files combined with this image will teach me to back up my work better than all my dad's lectures when I was little about how import backing my stuff up on floppy was.

Anyway, comments are always welcome. I'm still very new to LightWave and have a lot to learn.
