Description
This piece is a little different than my usual stuff. It's the beginning of a wallpaper I'm making for my little sister. She just got a computer as a birthday/graduation gift and it needs wallpaper, and she asked that I make her something with KITT from Knight Rider on it. Unfortunately, quality pictures of KITT are hard to find, leaving me with only two options: give up, tell her "too bad," and let her keep using the fish wallpaper that came with Windows or make my own image of KITT. Well, I obviously went with the second option. I couldnβt let my let my sister down or resist the challenge.I began this image by tracing a medium resolution photo of a car that looked a lot like KITT in Illustrator. As I went, I got more adventurous and stopped trying to make an exact duplicate with vectors. At one point, I intended to use gradients and meshes, but when I got to the end without them and liked what I had, I decided not to.
Let me know what you think. Suggestions before I move on to making the wallpaper would be nice.
Disclaimer: I did not create KITT, just this picture of him.

Very nice work.Β One of my personal favorite cars is the Porsche Carrera GT which is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. This car also inspired me for a painting in Adobe Illustrator (2-D, using no mesh/no grid for gradients) from another interesting angle. See here: exotic-legends.deviantart.com/β¦

Nice work. I got a book that might be right up your alley the next time you need reference pics of KITT or anything else from the classic Knight Rider

I LOVE Knight Rider. I have every season on DVD. I even have a big plastic KITT from when the show was still in season. Nice job.

Hey, that's really good vector art! And bonus! It's Kitt!
I just finished watching season 3 of Knight Rider on DVD, and no matter what David Hasselhoff's ego says, Kitt is the star of the show.

This is Very Nice.
What would I could manipulate vectors. I guess I'll just have to stick with real media for the time being.
Keep up the good work, and be sure to show us the finished product. (And don't forget to make his scanner glow!)

Thanks for the comment!
I wish I could make reccomendations on tutorials, but I like to teach myself and don't use tutorials. I suggest copying or tracing photos or other images to get an idea for how shadows work and seeing what you can teach yourself.

... That is THE most amazing picture of KITT I've seen in my life. I now pass out because I'm blinded by the... spiffyness of it. *Passes out*

Great car~ very, very smooth. I think the windows look a little more solid grey than tinted, though, but then I'm no car expert. ^_~ Can't wait to see the final wall, if you're posting it here.

This car wanted to be penpal with our old 1984 Saab 900 GLi when I met it at Universal Studios in LA 1990.
I glad you didn't use gradients, like it better this way.
