Description
Well as promised here is my revamp of the original K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand)I did this mostly for a t-shirt design and for use in the official poster for Knight Rider Festival.
I've used my rework of this angle of K.I.T.T. in various different ways but it started with altering a rare original black and white promo shot of K.I.T.T. you can see here:

As you can see in my rework I added in the scanner and the covers over the fog lights to reflect K.I.T.T. in Season One of Knight Rider.
I also painstakingly colorized the car (inside and out) as close to the colors from the original series as possible. One thing about doing your research and knowing people who worked on the show, you get little tidbits of information the average person doesn't know about.
One of these things is that according to K.I.T.T. designer Michael Scheffe, aside from looking "sleek and cool" on screen, the Knight 2000 was given a shiny paint job so it could capture the reflection of the environment around it.
If K.I.T.T. was just black with no reflection, it would basically be a hole in the film as black is usually an unexposed area of film which is later reshot mostly with matte paintings and visual effects.
When there wasn't enough reflection on K.I.T.T. the crew would purposely use reflectors on the body of the Trans Am to make sure that color was cast off the sleek body whereever possible.
This allowed the crew to keep K.I.T.T. both seperated from the background and not appear as just a black silhouette when not desired.
This is also why K.I.T.T. has a blue tint (from the reflection of the sky) and traces of brown (dirt) while outside, but inside the Semi, you can clearly tell K.I.T.T. is a shiny black with no color tint to the paint whatsoever.
These details were important to know when coloring K.I.T.T. from the original b/w promo shot, to a colorized rework.
Once again if you use my artwork, please give me proper credit. I am putting this image up here (like the Mustang) as a free asset to do with as you like as long as it's both legal and respectful.
All in all I think things turned out great!
Enjoy!
-Nick

This definitely looks fantastic, and I'm sure it was hard work getting the colors and such so accurate, not to mention the addition of the scanner/fog lamp covers.
