Description
EDIT - Adjusted door handle issue. Thanks to KnightRacer "J" for the tip. Here's a rendering of K.I.T.T. I have been working on for the last week or so. I wanted to show a version of K.I.T.T. that you don't find common in other K.I.T.T. artwork out there, so I went with dynamic turbo boost, including showing some of the underside of the car.
Accomplishing this angle was no easy feat. I started with reference from a dvd screenshot, created lineart in Illustrator, and then the final rendering from scratch in Photoshop. This was a very tedious process but as they say anything worth doing is rarely easy.
This particular K.I.T.T. art is being used for a greater project which I will reveal later in September but I felt it was so dynamic, I wanted to give it its own special composition for my gallery.
To me there is only one K.I.T.T., accept no substitutions.
If you decide to add this to your favorites, please do take the time to leave a comment - it makes me smile
DO NOT use without my permission, this is protected work.
Enjoy!

Beautiful work. Really captures those epic moments of boost, when you're like, "Who says cars can't fly!!"
I <3 classic K.I.T.T.

You know when I was worked on this posting my progress on Facebook, I thought the same thing - there's no good hi-res turbo boost shots and that's what KITT is known for! So in my usual manner I decided to take it upon myself to change that. I referenced the angle from where KITT jumps over the parody of the General Lee (Prince Brother's Charger) in the Season 1 episode "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death."
Glad I could make your day.

*Knight Rider music cues up*
Wilton Knight: Knight Rider.....a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man...who does not exist
*music plays some more*
Wilton Knight: Michael Knight.....a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent...the helpless...the powerless...in a world of criminals who operate above the law......
*K.I.T.T. goes into Super-Pursuit Mode and rides off into the sunset*

Everything but the Super-Pursuit Mode part
Still I guess it's better than a 30ft Gobot knockoff calling itself K.A.R.R.

You don't like the Super Pursuit Mode? I thought it was awesome! I always loved the shot in season 4 of K.I.T.T. in SPM with the sunset.
And yes, the new Knight Rider show was ridiculous. I was 'somewhat' excited when I heard Peter Cullen's voice as K.A.R.R., but when he transformed.....that was too much.

That's really well done. The nose of the car looks slightly off angle from the rest, but that could be my eyes playing tricks on me. It's really impressive that you managed to capture the iconic turbo boost with such dynamic energy, and the shiny coloring is great as well.

Thank you. The nose is not off, it's just a very extreme angle. I used a screen cap from an episode of Knight Rider as reference to make sure everything was as it should be, believe me it was incredibly difficult to visualize what I couldn't actually see clearly in the still - but structurally speaking, it is correct.
you can see my preliminary illustrator lineart here:

I really wanted to capture the excitment and energy of the Knight 2000 without being bound by a strictly photoreal look otherwise it would be too dark and limited. I'm all about vibrancy and playing with light.
The problem I have working with original Knight Rider stills is they're usually low res dvd grabs and can't hold up to the demands of high resolution print or really dark press shots with loss of detail, so I often have to redraw and render whatever I'm trying to use which is very tedious, yet a rewarding process. In this case, it's just one part of a greater whole I'll reveal later.
Thanks for the compliment!
