Wizeman ruins things once again more at ten! I usually stick to the fluffy stuff but every now and then i may dabble in a bit of angst. ~
These lads are certainly up to their non-existant necks in it thats for sure. (yes i know i draw them with necks but shh we don't talk about that)

Anyways, yeah Wizeman's return was not a good time for either of them.

So in the Journey of Dreams game, NiGHTS has a moment where he shows genuine concern over Reala's well being and that never left me. That combined with Reala's lack of character development PLUS the rather lackluster attempts at capturing NiGHTS (i mean lets be honest he couldn't stick around to ensure he stayed in those cages? The Goodles were pretty useless and the kids could hardly put up much of a fight against him either) had me thinking: well heck if the game won't do it i'll just throw my own headcanons in and do it myself FHDGF

And that's what i'm doing here! So yeah, NiGHTS and ReRe have a moment just before Reala heeds Wizeman's calls and returns to his side. They both knew neither could convince the other to switch sides respectively, so this was pretty much the last moment they could share together before Wizemans official order for NiGHTS to be captured.

Prior to this, NiGHTS had been trying to get back in contact with Reala and reconcile with him. But Reala had for the most part disappeared after Wizeman's first defeat, so NiGHTS had a hard time tracking him down.

The few occasions he did manage to find Reala usually ended up in arguments and fights. But shortly before Wizemans return, they did manage to have a moment to talk without trying to tear each others throats out and something of an almost understanding was reached.

However it wasn't a complete reconcilliation as Reala still held much bitterness over NiGHTS’ defection and NiGHTS had yet to fully confront the guilt he faced over the entire thing and leaving his siblings to the mercy(less) of Wizeman. But it was a start, and NiGHTS had hopes they could begin to slowly but surely fix that broken bond between them.

But then Wizeman began to creep back from the pits of oblivion and as soon as it became clear to them he was returning, Reala instantly closed off towards NiGHTS again (less out of loyalty towards Wizeman and more out of fear) and NiGHTS initial hopes for their bond to be mended were crushed.

But out of respect for the brief reconnection they had managed to attain before, Reala met with NiGHTS one more time on neutral grounds before going back to the status quo.

And where was Jackle during all this? Awol mostly. After Wizeman's first defeat, Jackle went full neutral, not wanting to go full traitor like NiGHTS but not wanting to serve Wizeman either and both Reala and NiGHTS respected this. (He was able to maintain contact with both and usually acted as a sort of mediator between the two)

During the events of the second game, he had well and truly 'disappeared' which both twins could understand and were under the impression he had gone into hiding (Reala even went as far as to do Jackle a favour by informing Wizeman he had perished previously. Wizeman hardly cared though, as he had forgotten Jackle even existed by that point much like Sega)

And while Jackle had gone into hiding initially, he was also in fact out searching for a safe place for his siblings to live in where they would no longer have to fear Wizeman finding them (which would eventually bring them all to the Wonderworld much later on).
