After Shai and Dakota's first litter was messy, and Dakota passed away shortly after, Shai and his son, Shin traveled around for moons before Shai happened upon a young forest rogue named Lilia. Perhaps in an attempt to compensate for his lost family, Shai had a single kit with the rouge, called June. As a kit, in general June was very friendly and outgoing. However, one day Shai and Lilia just decided to leave their daughter with her 30-moon-old half brother and go live their lives in the twoleg place. June was confused at first, but loved Shin more than anything, and trusted him.

• Apprenticeship •
Growing up, Shin was incredibly protective of June. They built a small den on the outskirts of the forest together and lived there. He never let her out of his sight, and was aggressive towards anyone that came near their den. June, of course, being the mischievous cat she is, often wandered away to play outside. No matter how many heart attacks Shin had, a smile and boop on the nose from her could soften any scolding. Over time, Shin thought it would be good to teach June some self-defense skills, and taught her how to fight.

•Warrior/Medicine Cat •
A few moons had passed since Shin had deemed her 'training' complete, and they had just lived relatively in peace. One day, a rouge passed by, and June went inside, preparing herself for Shin to just fight with her. However, when he came back in, immediately he said they were going to head into the forest to go find a group of cats called 'The Clans' that this rouge had told him about, because he said he thought someone very important was going to be there.
The two arrived in DuskClan to the dire blizzards, and after so long Shin was reunited with his sister Dreamtails, who he'd imagined dead for so long. Shin planned to stay in DuskClan, but Dreamtails, knowing DuskClan's dire food shortages, suggested June go to LeafClan. She knew there were trusted friends there, and while Shin protested greatly, he eventually gave in. She was given the name Junebug upon arrival.
