The sense of dynamics and action you caught here is great--the flow of the robes, the arcing of the lightsaber are both outstanding.Β Before I hit the one section of this that is critique, I want you to know that I like this overall and I recognize that you draw poses better than I can in my own work.Β That sense of motion is something I have never been able to convey.
The only things I notice is that your reference photo, if I am not mistaken, appears to be for a one-handed sword technique, whereas his saber is the equivalent of fighting with a broadsword rather than a katana or kendo staff.Β Aadditionally, I'm going to guess your references were done by a left-hander, whereas Kylo is a right-hander.Β (Of course, simply mirror-imaging the drawing would put that right instantly, so that is no big deal).Β The move on the left might not be comfortable with a broadsword due to its weight; he might not be able to get as much power as he needs to to strike the way he's holding the sword right there.Β The one currently on the right, however, is just fine.
I would like to thank you for one other thing in particular though, on another part of this sketchdump: I am preparing a Kylo Ren cosplay and that drawing from the back pose is a BIG help for me in terms of observing Kylo's mannerisms.Β I can't afford to keep going back and seeing the movie (already been twice!) and I had heard someone describe something like that, with certain key points to watch out for in terms of stance, hands, etc., and you illustrated EXACTLY what I was looking for here--that tense, clenched-fist, darting gaze.Β Capturing and "freezing" that makes it very easy for me to work with in the cosplay.
