Description poking at a 3D model of a Predator that's now forming the core for creating the various characters and their equipment to illustrate my story "Outsider".

Created using 3D Studio Max, based on an incomplete .max discovered somewhere online ages ago, cleaned and boned.

hmm, maybe the wrong phrase to use considering the subject matter

Predator is the property of 20th Century Fox, which is not a wholly owned subsidiary of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Amazing render!

I really like your Avatar, too! Did you create it yourself in 3DSMax or is it a render from a game?

That's another pose taken from the same model.

thanks ... I was poking with light sources at the time. I still have to get the bones for the plasma cannon right so I can pose the figure easily, but once I do it's going to have some neat new stuff - like a face.

Trust me, trying to bone those mandibles sucks, there's -no- IK solver in the universe makes it miika-proof

Damn now thats one program I've never used. Wonderful 3D work I love the shine on the armour as well as the feel of it.

thanks. I was playing with the light sources some because the cannon doesn't want to come out with any detail unless something's pointed right at it, so the shoulder panels came out shinier than intended.

I can't take credit for all of it, it's a very cleaned up version of something someone else started then dropped, dumping the remnants on the web somewhere. it's being a pain to convert because a lot of the skins that were meant to go with it seem to be missing, so I've been busy grabbing screenshots from the web and using those as the basis ... that and it wasn't boned, which was the trickiest part even before trying to texture it. 3DS Max doesn't seem to have a nice way of articulating mandibles for some obscure reason
