Description I'm having a dango plush giveaway! Check it out:

starstreak-seeker.deviantart.c…

I absolutely love the anime Clannad and all the little dango that come with it. I showed my friend this anime and she was hooked. So, for part of her upcoming 18th birthday present I decided to make her a dango plush. I can barely fit my arms around this beast of a plush. It took about 3 days to make. Not so much the sewing, which took me about 30 minutes, but it was the freaking eyes. Instead of copping out by using fabric paint, I embroidered the eyes. I'm fairly new to embroidery, but this was super easy. The reason it took me so long is that it was a very tedious task and I have ADD. It is hard for me to focus on one thing for an extended amount of time. But, I plan on making another one for myself. My dog wants another one to cuddle with too. (^-^)

I really want to make one this size for my boyfriend, he would just love it. I just need to know how big these measurements are, or how to enlarge your template to make one this size. I'm completely clueless ;n;

Umm...what type of fabric did you use to make the plush? It looks very soft..

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to LittlemissAi [2014-02-12 02:54:35 +0000 UTC]

Anti-Pill Fleece. It is very soft fabric, and you won't get little balls of fabric fuzz (pill) like you would if you used felt.

How much fabric did you need for this size? and how big is it exactly?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to rie-ushio [2014-01-11 21:57:28 +0000 UTC]

I want to say the circumference was about 56 inches. I could barely wrap my arms around it (but, my arm span is only 64-ish inches). The pattern I have posted isn't for this size though. I'm thinking about doing a tutorial on how to make a pattern so that people can make a dango this size, or even bigger if they want. I think I had a yard of fabric when I first made this, but I'm not certain. It has been a while since I've made a dango this size. ()

This is so pretty! I want to make one for a friend's birthday in about 2 weeks, and your pattern really helps a lot! Now I'm about to get materials some time soon, and I wanted to ask what kind of fabric you used for this I can't really tell, is it fleece? Are there different kinds @.@ Also, how did you get the seams so nice and flat Do you use smaller, straight stitches? Do you stitch two triangles together then the other two, then the two bigger pieces?

I'm sorry for all the questions! I want to make this gift as perfect as possible >w<

I would like to sell dangos of this size sometime in the future, but I need a more efficient way to stitch the eyes. I'm sticking with the smaller sizes for now.

Sorry for asking on here, oh and thanks for watching me too! How did you do the embroidery for this dango? Sideways instead of long ways? How long did it take you to do the eyes?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to sakurablossom143 [2013-04-23 02:07:49 +0000 UTC]

I do the eyes horizontally for large dangos like this one. For smaller ones, like the size you get from the pattern I posted, I do the eyes vertically.

RedDawn3707 [2013-03-05 21:12:51 +0000 UTC]

I'm in the process of creating my own Dango family X3 but I'm gonna be asking my mom to get me some fabric to make a big one XD. I'll post a pic when its done.

O_O how much?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to deadly-burrito [2013-02-07 23:33:12 +0000 UTC]

To make? Probably around $25-30 USD, but a smaller size will cost less. The stuffing is what costs the most. You can get fabric for cheap.

JokerHeart472 [2013-01-09 05:10:29 +0000 UTC]

How big did you make the pattern to get it this size?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to JokerHeart472 [2013-02-07 23:34:45 +0000 UTC]

The diameter of the circle base was 15 inches, so...about 2 times the size of the pattern I posted.

May I ask, if I enlarge the pattern on photoshop, will I still be able to print it on a 8.5 x 11 printer paper? Or will that not work?? o_O

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to sakurablossom143 [2013-03-27 20:32:28 +0000 UTC]

You should be able to do that. I'm working on a way enlarging the pattern also.

That's so awesome! I want to try my own, but i was wondering how you did the seem at the top with all four triangle tops?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to Counterheroic [2013-02-07 23:35:56 +0000 UTC]

I sewed from one to end to the other all the way across the top after I had sewed all four pieces together. It will be shown in the tutorial...once I post it. (>.<)

I wish i had one that freakin good!!!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

MoonyBug In reply to duedddd [2012-10-31 21:27:11 +0000 UTC]

They are fairly easy to make, you just have to have patience. You can cop out on the eyes and use black fabric paint instead of embroidering them onto the fabric. Sewing isn't too hard either. If you do it by hand, it take fifteen minutes to many hours depending on whether or not you use a sewing machine or if you sew by hand.

I made the pattern myself, but I still have it. I can post a miniature pattern here on DA, and you can enlarge the pattern to make it whatever size you want. It will be a couple of weeks before I get the pattern on here because I'm on vacation at the moment. If you don't mind waiting until then, I'd be glad to post it.
