Okay, you have points there, but primarily your "the doctor does not fall in love with companions" claim has now been disproved, and the Doctor DID indeed fallen in love with companions, whether or not the relationship pulled through. And on the note on the Doc's family, it had to start with love, but I won't delve any more deeper on it.
Also, please, if you didn't like the picture don't comment on it in the first place.
The Derpy and Doctor Whooves pairing is very popular in the fan community, and the picture is very good. So with all do respect, do not cause any negativity to those who just wish to enjoy the picture and cause disrespect to the artist, just because you dislike the pairing and wish to "remain canon".

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I do recall the Doctor falling in love and actually having a family on his home planet. And I think he had a fling with Rose, and I heard that he's gonna get together with River.
So yes, the Doctor does fall in love with some of his female companions, depending on which regeneration we're talking about.
