Perlita, female Syrian HamsterThis is one of my favorite pics of her. I am still very sad she left us just after her first birthday.

Normally they get about 2 years old but she died much too young from a disease my vet couldn't find out in 12 weeks. She slowly lost weight and we couldn't stop it. We tested for any infection, even did a blood test with a new technique that was new even for my highly specialized vet but found out nothing :-/
I don't take it hard when they simply fall asleep, but if it's a long and early beginning struggle I get raally depressed.

That's so sad...my two mice were simply old. They lived about two and a half years or so and then finally started slowing down. They both passed on at different times when I wasn't home to take care of them so that was hard, but it wasn't too bad because I knew they lived on long enough and it was their time to go. As far as I know their deaths weren't violent (at least I hope not O_o). Do you have another hamster to give you loves?

Sorry to hear from yor mice
Ivan (look here: [link] ) was my last one and died a week ago. I will "pause" a bit since I had my last hamsters dying awfully. In a year or two I will be "back in action", since those little critters are highly addictive

you bet, I raised them for a while and a pet shop in the town near my home at the time was kind enough to take them once they reached a good age, oh and a few friends grabbed a couple of them as well. It was my first lesson on how to be a dad, I was a dad of 8 or 10 hams I cant remember how many hams I had hehe but they all got love for sure.
