Description
The class 7 warp core is a compact yet high-capacity M/AM reactor originally deployed aboard Defiant class escorts. The need to save space within the spaceframe pushed engineers into drastically improving reactant injector pressures and structural reinforcement of the intermix chamber. The resulting system is actually capable of powering a ship several times larger than the Defiant and her sisters. Starfleet is currently considering implementing Class 7 cores as part of an upgrade program for several classes of small and medium-size starships such as the Miranda class light cruiser/frigate.
