The sun was setting much later in the day than usual but the journey was still long enough to catch them in the darkness. Jay looked back from his tokota and scanned the surroundings. "It's best we set up camp here." He halted his tokota and dismounted. He had been on this journey many times before and he knew the mountains on the horizon. It was best to keep out at night. The other two handlers nodded in agreement and stopped their tokotas. Once untacked the group rested in the tall grass discussing the best place to set up the tents and build a fire.
The day had been long but relatively easy. Ki happily plopped down next to Akela, tail wagging. Jay and Alex set up the tents and collected some fire wood while Raia finished untacking Drefan. While setting up camp the sky burst into lights that seemed to dance between the stars. The handlers and their tokotas noses pointed skyward in awe. Different hues of light weaved across the sky, purples, blues, pinks, and greens. They looked at each other and smiled. Putting down their stuff, there would be nothing wrong with taking a break to watch.
