He looks scarier like that, I think I like him better with the glass... but this is EPIC.

Very interesting... I like this version of his face a lot. It isn't too young, like other artists feature him. Soundwave was online around the same time Megatron was, when Megs was still a gladiator, and Optimus just Orion Pax, a clerk. It makes sense Soundwave would have an older kind of look. Wish the optics were lit, but the spark and the energon glow is spectacular!!! Brilliant job, here!

That's very much on purpose actually. My headcanon version of Soundwave is blind, so his optics don't get brighter~ It's just my personal preference really~ I think it explains pretty well why he always wears the visor, rarely leaves the ship, uses the symbiote to aide him, and why he always accesses the ship's systems using his cables.
