Description They aren’t really containing spoilers… more my opinions, and observations…

Thorin is such a sulking self-hating grumpy goose. Aragorn is and was and will be (The LotR moves were 11 years ago, but in the time of the story Aragorn is alive but since it’s prequel we haven’t met him yet) a annoyingly sombre and pessimistic character but Thorin makes Aragorn seem like bucket of sunshine and roses…
Edit: That dosn't mean I don't like Thorin, I do. I love all the dwarfs, and Thorin is likable even though he is sullen.

Lee Pace, who plays Thranduil, king of Mirkwood and father of one Legolas, have also played the role of Ned, the pie-maker with magical powers in one of my favourite TV series: Pushing Daisies. It was a pleasure seeing him again, even if it was briefly and…on such a weird thing…

Kili… I don’t like Kili… But at least this version of Kili, the basically identical twins might have been female. (I am a Pratchett girl, I believe firmly and whole heartedly that All dwarfs have beards, no matter gender, sex and form a very, very early age) I don’t truly mind, but it bugged me a little, clearly I’m overreacting here for comic affect.
Good grief I rolled my eyes when he brought up the bow… And No, I am not overly fond of Leggie either.

Fili…I like him better. He’s pretty, but still looks dwarven. I love beards. My boyfriend has had a beard for 5-6 years. Looks good on him

This is my Deviantart. I have lots of stuff from lots of different things here
It's not the best place to have a webcomic as it is so messy

Kili and Legolas jokes very much fun! You make me want to grow my Rennie beard back, even if it will have grey streaks.

I have nothing against Kili. In fact, I adore him. And I am ok with the fact that he is the youngest of the company. Also, I adore all the Durins, especially Thorin . I am a beard and stubbles fan as well. I love my men looking manly.

Not fond at all of the Mirkwood elves except for Tauriel.  Yes I know she is a strategy to sell more tickets, but at least they wrote her well. I mean, she is definitely NOT a Jar Jar Binks.

I do share your distaste for Legolas, though. As much of a kickarse warrior that he is, he's always a sidekick. Not to mention his Mr. Spock impressions. I cannot visualize romance with him. In fact, I believe Gimli to be a better suitor for the romance department. He captivated me with the Galadriel gift speech.

And I hope you do not hate me, but I dislike Thranduil with a passion, to the point of loving when Thorin insulted him in khuzdul

As for your doodles, I believe they were made brilliantly. I have yet to learn what Thranduil meant by "I did not mean to touch her twice", but all in all is good stuff IMO.

Morloth88 In reply to ladyartemis39 [2013-12-27 17:26:48 +0000 UTC]

Easy. I feel that character design was an insultingly cheap play on female hormones. A feeling i know have cemented with de reasant developments in the sequel.  I wad only annoyed after the first movie due to the obvious fan service/ cheap trick. Now I feel insulted and frankly saddend that Hollywood and Peter Jackson have such a low veiw of women that they would ruin an amazing story just to tittilatre some teenage hormones with a fake, shoehorned in and  frankly atrociously written love story.  I feel insulted,  robbed and degraded. So yeah It's seriously easy not tolike that characterisation of Kili.

I all but cried after the second movie.

Screw you. I liked him.

Tauriel though... Too much of a Little Miss Perfect. The signs are pointing to the fact that she's probably going to die, though, so I'm happy.

I did, but I've never even heard of that show so I'm still lost. I'll research it later, lol. I loved the 'Yay, pie!' part for little Legolas though. (And btw, I agree with you on Kili. :T)

I too am a firm believer in bearded dwarves. But actually, I'm okay with Kili... maybe because I'm rather partial to archers.

I'm letting off Killi and Filli because there very young dwarfs. the real eyecandy is Thorin.

I mean can you be mroe obvious? he's a Aragorn Mini-me with the brooding, and his looks... ffs Lorewise Thorin is OLDER than Balin and how dose Balin look HMMM?

Haha the pie!! I knew Lee Pace played both of these characters but I can only wish I had imagined this xD
While I agree with you about the beards and such (especailly Thorin - i'm pretty sure his was meant to be really impressive?), do you mind me asking why you disliked the bow so much? It's been a while since I read the book but isn't it implied that some of the dwarves have bows and they're actively given bows in Mirkwood anyway? Just wondering

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Morloth88 In reply to SocksWithHolesInThem [2013-01-21 12:06:31 +0000 UTC]

It's a fantasy thing... I've not read Tolkien in a fair while but been subjected to alot of other fatasy infulences and bows are not dwarfish. Crossbows, but not bows, rarly bows. I had forgotten tha tolkien had them use bows.

Midori-Kinoko [2013-01-14 09:51:08 +0000 UTC]

Yay! Prachett!!! Glad to know there are fans of his on DA. I should look up Cheery (Cheri) Littlebottom, lol.

I used to be obsessed with Legolas (my first OC was an elf for that very reason!)... And yes, while Kili certainly looks far from the basic design of the Dwarf race, I found myself drawn to him (and Thorin) since they first put that photo of all the dwarves online. That said, I don't think I'll be enjoying the thought of Legolas' 'movie-bombing' the story even if he would be around at that time...
